They didn't skate at Challenge. I heard there was some kind of injury, but I have no details.

I just came out of my fog long enough to peek at the schedule and I'm really annoyed .They're doing that stupid split competition again for the Sr.women and men. It looks like the only thing that saves the pairs and ice dance from the same horrid fate is that there are only 7 pairs teams ( if Dube and Wolfe are there) and only 9 dance teams ( in the absence of W/P).

I hate it.

Yeah, this is bad, I think the later group has a better chance of getting the top spots even though they say that's not true.

There is no reason for the "division" of events this year. The men are only seperated by the pairs in the FP and the Ladies are not televised. So this cannot be a TSN/CTV issue. This has to be Skate Canada

Don't see Misha Ge listed among Senior Men (http://results.skatecanada.ca/2012-2013/2013CDNS/2013CDNSSrMenShortsegStartOrders.pdf), but I wonder whether he hopes to compete in Mississauga.
He has tweeted a striking photo of the voluminous paperwork necessary for his Canadian visa application.

BTW, a slightly more direct link to the page that in turn has links to all Starting Orders [the same link that GS has conveniently attached to its forum index pages :)]:

Maybe he is just going to train here and is not becoming a Canadian. Or he is getting his Visa so he is allowed entry into Canada for worlds?

Though our immigration policy is fairly open so he is welcome!

Best of luck to everyone but especially Elladj Balde and Jeremy Ten! In my dream world both of them would make the World team.

Duh, I am a complete idiot. :bang:
Sorry, in hindsight and with the astute comments from blue and emdee, I see that my previous post was an utterly ridiculous leap.

My mind was boggled by the pages and pages of documents that Ge showed. And I do sympathize with Ge that he always seems to be in limbo until the last minute before a competition that is on the verge of starting -- awaiting permission to attend. His mention of "2 a.m." also somehow put it into my little head that the situation was of extreme urgency.

But ... I should have noticed that an earlier tweet from Ge said that he is waiting for Tokyo to decide about his Japanese visa.
So as emdee notes, the likely scenario is that he is trying to square things away now in preparation for Four Continents and Worlds.
Apologies that my brain was not working ...

See these tweets from last week:

Situation about my passport issue after contact general Consulate UZB in US is i cannot add pages to passport and cannot make new passport
So right now having last option to try before i will must back to country to receive New Passport
Our passport have couple pages for observations stamps, and with our Government Consulate agree and their paper they allow me put visa on it .
But decision will up to the Japan and Canada embassy . Hope they allow it . #Hope Osaka and London(Canada)

So basically he's waiting for Canada and Japan to give the OK to have the visas be on the passport though he official ran out of pages officially for those visas. Otherwise he would have to go back to UZE for a new passport, which I would imagine be quite disruptive to his training.

Sorry to be OT, just closing the loop on this topic.

And my last OT post on this subject, but I want to thank Mrs. P for the full scoop on on Ge. :)

I'm embarrassed to say that last week I had seen [but clearly forgotten] one of the tweets about Ge's passport pages.
And when I took another look at a few of his tweets this morning, I did not go back far enough to catch last week's background. :(

It's a shame that Ge needs to spend so much time and effort dealing with bureaucratic hassles. And I'm sure that he's not the only one.
