I do hope she can become a WORLD CHAMPION! SHe is already in my heart!
Japan Open is coming up soon! So excited!
Sorry I did not check the thread, but has anyone posted this video clip?
You can see Akiko practicing her free to 'O' from around 2:05.
Good luck to her at JO next weekend!
That new program of hers is a joy and a delight. It shows her flow and strength. I just love that deep sky-blue (maybe butterfly-wing-blue; maybe peacock-blue) costume. And I love the unusual music. She is a mature artist.
Good luck to her in Skate Canada!
Akiko hopefully does GPF-she should podium-the best lady!
Her second competition is NHK.
Skaters there are:
Akiko has 13 points for finishing second at SC. If she places 3rd, she will have 24 points, more than any lady who has done two events so far, except Kiira.
The only lady guaranteed a spot now is Kiira Korpi, so the other 5 spots will be determined at TEB & NHK
Still in the hunt for the remaining 5 spots, with a reasonable chance:
Wagner 15 points
Asada 15 points
Gao 13 points
Lipnitskaia 13 points
Suzuki 13 points
Zawadzki 11 points
Tuktamysheva 9 points (If she won TEB, she would have 24 points, and by virtue of the win, the first tie breaker)
Akiko's chances of the GPF are good, if she can place third or better at NHK, but if for example, Asada & Wagner each place 4th in their events, they would have 24 points, but beat out Akiko (in 3rd) because they have a first place placement. Say Lipnitskaia wins TEB and Gao finishes 2nd there, (or the reverse), they would have 28 points and 26 points respectively. Then if Zawadzki finishes second or better at NHK, she would beat Akiko too.
If she places second, she should be in with 26 points. Third requires other girls' to cooperate by skating badly.
Tuktamisheva is listed to perform at NRW Trophy which is the same date as Grand Prix Final. So are the Helgesons and a few others who are competing in the Grand Prix Circuit. I wonder if they are already thinking "I won't make it" or would withdraw in case of getting enough points.
It's not unusual for people to sign up for Senior B's and then not show up, although they have paid the entry fees.
Thanks for the info, that's what i thought.
Akiko will be skating at NHK! Wishing her good luck!
GS did an interview with her in 2010
