I saw that one at FaOI last week.
Dear God she's a sight to behold

I heard something about "Mozart" in the announcement, but apparently missed the "musical" part. Then I was a bit irritated when the music started, and even more irritated when I heard German lyrics. I must admit that I wasn't familiar with it, neither the song nor the musical. Is that well known in Japan? According to Wikipedia there have been quite a few productions in Japan over the years.

Anyways, it was kinda cool that she chose the original version of the song although I'm sure there's one in Japanese as well. And she really was just so, so beautiful, it was amazing :)

(btw I found a video with translation of the lyrics if anybody's interested)

I went to FaOI in Makuhari too and thought Akiko and her skating were beautiful.
I saw the musical many many years ago but didn't realize it was from that
Looking at the cast from the Japanese production, I think Akiko is a big fan of the actor who does Leopold. There was a TV program about her meeting him last year.

OT, but I hope you enjoyed your time in Japan Pamina. We had some weird weather, weird volcanic eruptions and weird earthquakes in May but I'm glad you got home safely. I thought the show was fantastic and would love to go again next year.
