A few days after she turns sweet 16, Bedford County resident Taylor Steele will experience a less typical milestone.

Born and raised in Hopewell, Taylor has traveled thousands of miles from Pennsylvania to Alaska to train and race in the Junior Iditarod XXXVI, taking place Feb. 23 and 24.

Taylor is training with the kennel that I work for. The article has one big boo-boo in it, Taylor does not want to be the first woman to win the "adult Iditarod". She knows that two women have won it already.

She's such a sweetheart, I'm hoping she kicks major booty this season.

Oh, goody! An Easterner heads to the Iditarod.

Susan Butcher and Libby Riddles, right? Did I remember the names of the winners correctly? I didn't look it up.

Ha ha! :) Until you suffer from Idita-flu (or Idita-butt) I don't think I've done my job, though. ;)
