Tonight Kevin Van der Perren won the competition "Sterren op de dansvloer" (equivalent to "Dancing with the stars")! Kevin wasn't particularly known for artistry or dance moves when he was a competitive figure skater, but with stunning off-ice, out-of-nowhere (quadruple) jumps on the dancefloor, a ton of natural charisma and a lot of commitment and hard work he realized something he's worked for his whole life: he got the GOLD (and a huge trophy).

 Kevin.

Suppose he finds it easier to relax and express feelings when he doesn't have to do hard techs. Also helps dancing with a competent good looking partner :)

Video is in the article.

I miss him in competitions too!!

Some more videos:

Skating at the local Christmas market (tiny ice patch!), Kevin shows of triple jumps, mentioning his jumps are better now than when he was still competing. But due to his age and the risk of injury, he doesn't think returning to competition would be possible...

Videos from the competition are pulled off of youtube due to copyright but all can be watched here:

Make sure you watch the 'Kevin as Woody from Toy Story' one, which is awesome, and he does a quad jump on the dancefloor during the judges commentary:

Is it just rumours or serious that he goes for pairs skating?

I thought it was nothing but a rumour, but then I heard him talking about skating pairs in a television show. He hadn't got the chance to train full-out (lately) due to the training for Dancing With.... but he said he was determined to continue his efforts as soon as the programme had finished.

Weird idea though - but you never know :)
