Omg... Akiko bombed her FP completely. She had two falls, a bunch of other mistakes, got 102 points, was 3rd in FS and 2nd in total. Imai won. I don't know why she wanted to attend this event so close to 4CC. It turned out that the stream was without the sound, that's why youtube vids are without sounds too :rolleye:. Tomorrow Juniors will skate and I am planning to attend Yoyogi. Rather curious to see how Junior Worlds medal candidates are doing (Hino).

1 Haruka Imai 59.67 116.16 175.83
2 Akiko Suzuki 55.96 102.21 158.17
3 Satsuki Muramoto 50.17 104.87 155.04
4 Yuki Nishino 52.97 96.72 149.69
5 Shion Kokubun 49.99 83.06 133.05

10 Haruka Inoue 39.58 78.67 118.25
11 Hikaru Nasuno 38.37 79.70 118.07
12 Aki Sawada 37.71 72.43 110.14

Imai 3F 2A-3T 3S 2A 3Lo-2T-2T 3Lo 3S-2T maybe some home boost
Suzuki 3F-2T+2Lo 2A-1T 3Lz 3F fall 3Lo-2T 3S stepout 3Lo fall
Satsuki Muramoto 3Lo 3S 3T-2T 3S-2T 3T 2A 2A
Nishino 3Lz<fall 3F 3S 3T-1T 3T 3S-2T 2A-2T
Suguri 3Lz<< 3T 2S 2F-2T 2Lz 1A 2A

It's a big upset. Suzuki has bombed but her PCS is rather low in this highly inflated competition. I wonder if the national judges are finally dumping her. We have only ten days to four continents. If Hongo skates very well in juniors, there could be a replacement.

not looking good for Akiko for Worlds, is she injured ?
it could be the hungover effect like what Leonova is experiencing

Many congrats to Shu Nakamura for making a podium finish!:clap:
Hope his performances will somehow show up on YT, so that we can see them.

As for Keiji, I sincerely hope it's not an injury... So close to Junior Worlds.

Hino skated quite well actually but wasn't super clean. There was a severe flutz on his combo. You can't see it on the video because of the crappy cameraperson work. I was in the arena. Nevertheless he seems very confident and well-prepared. Definitely he will be a candidate to medal at Junior Worlds, possibly a gold medal, especially if Kovtun is not coming (no idea). The score is of course inflated at this kind of event (43 for TES and 33 PCS), still the difference of 10 points between his TES and PCS is rather telling, even at such kind of event. There is no competition for him at this event, he will surely win tomorrow but I won't be able to attend. Today both Sato and Kajita hit the music really well, they didn't do any major elements like 3A or 3-3 and no one expected them from them, good spins very well-centered and nice speed. Btw, Kento Nakamura was in K&C cheering for his folks (the final standing is "by prefecture"). I missed Kawahara since I was out near the arena at his warm-up, so I can't comment first hand. I didn't stay for ladies but judging by the score the first 6 are really close to each other. In general the event is very generously organized, with a lot of fun near the arena, etc. Some vids from the same mute stream here:

Is this the same Ryuichi Kihara who according to a thread started in the Edge will be Narumi's new pairs partner?

Thanks for the info. Good for Oda.

Yes, he is.
I was a bit surprised to see Ryuichi at the recent Nats; he apeared to have built a good amount of muscle since previous seasons. Also I was surprised Fuji TV aired his SP (Fuji aired only 10 SPs out of 27 that night) over Ryuju Hino and Shoma Uno, where Kihara actually had a bad skate and placed 12th. They again aired Kihara's Free the next night. These things made me sort of suspect that this Nats was going to be his last comp as a single skater, so that JSF must have asked Fuji TV to air them...

Very glad to see Sasaki placed 3rd and land 3axels. He is really musical and has great expression. I really love his skating. :)

Can you imagine the world silver and bronze medallist not making their national team - that would be big news. I see Fumie Suguri is skating - it is THE Ms. Suguri right? I am not sure what to say. I think her time has passed though really but good for her if she wants to skate. I just think it will be hard to make the team. I would tell Ando almost the same thing - your heart has to be in it or don't do it.
