The announcers just said Mia instead of Maia.
I just lol'd.
Wow I take back what I said about U.S Nationals doing a good job avoiding inflation. The scores here for the dancers are equally as inflated as Gilles & Poirier and their scores at Nationals. Who for instance thinks the Shibutanis would have won Europeans with their performances here, or H&D would have almost won the FD at Europeans, lol!
With two couples left to skate:
Place Start No. Name Short Dance Free Dance Total Score Place 1 13 Maia Shibutani / Alex Shibutani 3 69.63 1 104.58 174.21 2 12 Madison Hubbell / Zachary Donohue 4 67.75 2 100.11 167.86 3 11 Lynn Kriengkrairut / Logan Giulietti-Schmitt 5 64.69 3 95.32 160.01
Love Meryl & Charlie's unison, matching body lines, speed, power, drama, feeling of the music. Congratulations on the 5th National title!
197.44 for Davis and White total (118.42 in the FD)
Holy ****. And 23 points above the Shibutanis.
This program is really one of their best. They have a great chance at Gold at worlds. However, Virtue and Moir will put a good fight as their changes at canadian nationals also were amazing. Amazing work from the US ice dancers though.
Well inflation or not I am CRYING. That was unreal. Meryl's face at the beginning of the skate. Their pair's spin at the top. In the camel position it was like Charlie was trying to cradle or protect her.
I don't care what anyone says that was a fabulous connection and maybe the best acting I've ever seen from a skater.
Amazing how D/W just keep getting better.
Regardless of what happens, I hope the Shibs get sent to 4CC. They're already loved in Japan!
It is hard to see Davis & White not winning Worlds, even with it being in Canada.
Madison Chock is seriously pretty.
That was a nice skate for after Davis and White's epicness.
What is with Chock's dress? Get rid of the faux fur collar and cut off the sleeves.
