Was inspired to get a copy of the Rach 3 over the weekend thanks to her wonderful FS, which I can't stop watching. The incredible thing is that she still has room to grow as an artist and performer, so her TES should rise over the next few years. And did we all catch her adorable interview with PJ Kwong on CBC? She really expressed herself with confidence, her English is coming along! I'm with Jenny Kirk at the Skating Lesson, Elena is *my* "skating daughter"!

Don't you mean PCS?

Saw the interview - it was very brief but glad to see she is learning English and putting it to use. I think she's the kind of person who will learn it quickly and we'll see her speaking in longer sentences next season.

Some people were upset that Elena used Michelle's Rach 3. Michelle first skated to it when Elena wasn't even born yet! I think that's enough time to pass, LOL. And makes me feel old.

Congrats to her and all of her success so far this season. I like Liza too, and am happy for both of them!

This is a little late, but I'm so happy for Lena! So proud of her for going clean AGAIN (!!) and winning her first National title! :cheer:

This pic is just TO DIE FOR!! And I love Lena Ilinykh's sweet message...and little Lena's reply!

Here's another adorable photo of them (with a few other pics):

And here's a cool article I found about the GPF. The author writes, "I have a confession to make: my camera fell in love with Elena Radionova, I just couldn’t stop it from incessantly taking pictures of this lovely young lady from Russia, who is about to turn 16 on January 6."

It seems that the people who've seen Lena's long program live really love it...

Finally, I found this video of Lena and some of the other girls coached by Inna Goncharenko (I think). Hilarious!!

I like these from the gala practice. :)

And although Lena mostly is in photos with the other girls, I guess she must be pretty good friends with Maxim Miroshkin (Junior pairs skater):

Something I found on russian boards. Elena is destined to win Euro's. And maybe silver at worlds? :)

In the first adult season Julia was 2 and 3 on the stage of the Grand Prix. In the first adult season Lena - the same. In the second season of adult Julia was 1 and 1 then 2nd in the final. In the second season of adult Lena - similarly. What coincidence though! Well, now be European champion Lena :)

I'd say it is already broken! Yulia didn't win Russian Nationals last year, but Lena did this year!! :cheer:

But the competition between Elena and Liza will be tough! It seems that Liza has the advantage in terms of PCS (and people seem to like her programs better..?), and she gets enough +GOE to make up for her lower base value. In other words, if they both skate totally clean, I think Liza will win.

That being said, they seem to be going back and forth with winning: Lena won Skate America, then Liza won GPF, then Lena won Russian Nationals...so does that mean Liza wins Euros and Lena wins Worlds?

As much as I would love for Lena to win EVERYTHING this year, what I really want for her is to win Olympic gold. So I'm a little torn. On one hand, I think that if Lena doesn't win Worlds, it will really motivate her to improve her skating, and she DOES have lots to work on--fixing her posture, having more control over arms/legs and looking more graceful in general. So in the long term, maybe that is better for her...? On the other hand, maybe next year she'll have problems with puberty (though I'm hoping not!!), so perhaps it's best to win everything while she can. Hmmmmm...

As long as I get to see *HAPPY LENA* celebrating at the end of her program, I'll be happy! ;)

^agree with seeing 'happy Lena' is so good!:) It was quite funny seeing her reaction to the short program at the GPF though. She was like "I don't know what happened" when skating over to Inna XD
I'm not sure how I feel about her skating all her long programs clean so far - is it good that she's good into the "mould" of skating clean, and will continue to skate clean, or when (and if) she doesn't skate clean, will she be overly disappointed?
Of course I'm happy that she's skating it clean, but I just want her to keep doing it now!! :p

:agree: I don't really care about the titles anymore in the sense that all I really want to see is that she's happy with the performances that she gave. That's pretty much the most important thing for me, though winning titles would be great too

+1, as long as she knows that she did her best, and happy about that, I will be happy too. So far, she seems a girl always has a positive attitude.

But this naturally does not change the fact that the golden medal does seem to accompany her smile rather nicely....

Indeed it does!!

Sergei Voronov had some nice things to say about Elena's Rachmaninoff program:
http://www.sports.ru/others/figure-skating/1026060677.html

According to GoogleTranslate/the Japanese translation:
Q: Are you cheering for anyone in other other disciplines?
A: I'm happy for everyone who won prizes. If I were to single anyone out, I want to say a special word about Radionova. The entire season, she showed a fantastic performance. Her Rachmaninoff program -- for me - it is the standard [as in it is the best example of a Rachmaninoff program].

Not sure I totally agree, but it's so sweet of Sergei to single out Lena!

On a totally unrelated note, for someone who totally loves the spotlight and shamelessly blows kisses at all the cameras, Lena sure doesn't post much on Instagram!! I keep waiting for her to post some Nationals photos, but so far nothing yet...

Sergei praised Elena in another interview he did at the start of the season.

I would love to add a couple of words about Elena Radionova. I just loved her new programmes. They are so cool! The programmes are different - flamenco and Rachmaninov's cocnert. She is so colourful in those programmes! After the skate I approached and said `Lenka, it's awesome!'. She smiled. Perhaps she didn't believe. But I know what is behind those programmes - the work and the effort. Radionova is not only a huge talent, she is a hard worker.

Yes that's what I've been waiting for, she should learn some instagram behavior from someone like that orher Lena (Ilinykh). Her instagram has recently been more intresting even about Lena R stuff than Lena R's own.

If I get to make a wish, i'm thinking the winners medal from RN between your teeth with a fun facial expression. And then we can all congratulate you. But seriously, anything will do, just post a friggin picture
