Here's one such from the 1980 Olympics gala with Pestova & Leonovich and Cherkosova & Shakrai as the Fours. Dick Button (as a relative youngster) can be heard discussing fours, sixes & eights having been competed in the 1930's or so.

    Thanks, Doris!
Am always amazed at and appreciative of the seemingly infinite number of links at your fingertips, the magnitude of which is surpassed only by your encyclopedic memory.

I thoroughly enjoyed your Olympic Fours video.

But ... I did not see an "intertwined" (my unofficial word) death spiral like the one performed by Zhang/Moore-Towers/Bartholomay/Moscovitch at the Four Continents gala a week ago.
That one starts at approx. 1:06:35 here:

(And BTW, thanks to Doris also for explaining way back when how to link to a YouTube video that is already cued up to a specific point. My first attempt to do so.)

Herei's the fours vid you really want.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpfBn0KmaR8

It ends with the Fours Death Spiral.

The performers are Lyndon Johnston & Denise Benning and Christine Hough & Doug Ladret, both teams representing Canada at the 1988 World Championships.

Lyndon Johnston is one of the coaches of Zhang and Bartholomay, so I think I can guess where the kids learned the trick

Doris, thanks for the great historical video of Johnston et al. performing the Fours Death Spiral.

And thanks for connecting the dots that Zhang/Bartholomay must have learned the move from him.

(Although I had posted a version of this comment before the server upgrade, yet another mind-boggling example of your expertise and research deserves a re-posting of my gratitude. )

A belated thank you for this, Doris! I had not seen it before.
