thankyou. why is there so little coverage when they cover gp events?

and ty for time reminder...its spring ahead fall back-as my mum taught me.

I get mad that CBC geoblocks us. Those TV morons think we want the KKK Klan or crap and refuse to broadcast skating for a new fan base. Positively makes me furious. Cable bill doubled and I cant see FS biggest competitions. :bang:

yall know I mean the three Kardash girls not the Klu Klu, right

edit for clarification

Firstly, sorry that this is a bit later than I would normally wait to post the schedules. But, you can blame the BBC for that! I had to wait to until today to get next Sunday’s BBCi schedule, as my digital terrestrial box only gives listings for 7 days, and no-where else gives the complete schedule for that channel.

I have just gone through the Europsort schedules and there is a lot of variation depending on which version of Eurosport you are watching.

The LIVE coverage is the same on International and Deutschland. (And before you ask, I have no idea why they have split the coverage of the Ladies Free into 2 programmes! I suspect it is just for the schedules and that the coverage will actually be continuous.)

Eurosport France is mostly the same except that their LIVE coverage of the Free Dance is starting an hour earlier. ESP France also has a few extra highlights programmes compared to International and Deutschland.

The big difference is on British Eurosport. We in the British Isles are getting no-where near the coverage that the rest of “Eurosportland” is getting, be it in terms of LIVE coverage or just highlights.

Now, before you start complaining about snooker, whilst the PTC Grand Final in Galway is having an effect, there is also LIVE tennis to contend with (I take it that means we will not be having Simon Reed commentating on the skating, then)

As for the BBC, well their coverage looks more comprehensive, except that it doesn’t start until Friday!

I should warn you that, from past experience, the schedule for BBCi should be taken with a rather large pinch of salt. It NEVER keeps to schedule, and the listings are NEVER updated to reflect changes. To further cause annoyance, if a live event over-runs its allotted time, BBCi frequently cuts away from it regardless at the scheduled time, even if it is just to something silly like something on a loop, or a test card.

Speaking of things on loops, don’t get too excited about the very long coverage (12 hours) of the Men’s FS on Saturday. What it means is that the coverage is on a loop and the people putting up the listings couldn’t be bothered working out detailed start and finish times. This is normal for BBCi listings.

BBCi is available via:

Digital terrestrial (UK only): Ch. 301 on Freeview
Digital cable (UK only): pressing the red button on a BBC channel? (I don’t have cable, so I’m not sure)
Digital satellite (Europe):
Astra 28.2E, Transponder 45 (10.773H. MBaud 22,000. FEC 5/6).
NOTE: The channel you want for the skating is labelled “6390”

BBC HD is available via:

Digital terrestrial (UK only): Ch. 102 on Freeview
Digital cable (UK only): Ch. 187 on Virgin Media
Digital satellite (Europe):
Ch. 169 on SkyDigital – Astra 28.2E, Transponder 50 (10.847V. MBaud 22,000. FEC 5/6).

BBC2 is available via:

Digital terrestrial (UK only): Ch. 102 on Freeview
Digital cable (UK only): Ch. 102 on Virgin Media
Digital satellite (Europe):
BBC2 England (Ch. 969 on SkyDigital) – Astra 28.2E, Transponder 45 (10.773H. MBaud 22,000. FEC 5/6).
BBC2 Scotland (Ch. 970 on SkyDigital) – Astra 28.2E, Transponder 47 (10.803H. MBaud 22,000. FEC 5/6).
BBC2 Wales (Ch. 971 on SkyDigital) – Astra 28.2E, Transponder 46 (10.788V. MBaud 22,000. FEC 5/6).
BBC2 Northern Ireland (Ch. 972 on SkyDigital) – Astra 28.2E, Transponder 48 (10.818V. MBaud 22,000. FEC 5/6).

Hopefully all this will help us to try to get the most coverage that we can

:agree:
that's why I have no TV!!!. The only problem is that I have to watch all events on line and sometimes it is hard when (stupid) cable companies decide not to put some events on line.

Anyone know who is doing the commentary for Universal Sports? Just curious. When they covered Euros and 4CC, they didn't even have commentators, just someone to announce the skaters' names, and it was obvious she knew nothing about figure skating nor was she very interested in it.

Does anybody have the Russian coverage details? Apparently two channels will be showing it and both are available through TVTeka.

For those who have DirecTV but DO NOT have access to Universal Sports because they do not have the right sports package -

DirecTV is offering a free trial of Universal Sports from 3/10 - 3/19 on channel 625.

No but all channels are available through tvteka.com for 12$ per month (non recurring). Both live and on-demand later. There's also a free trial but it usually takes a while to kick in so I wouldn't bet on that.

Why is the "opening ceremony" being held after the pairs short program? Seems like a misnomer or some such.

Because it's quite pointless to hold an opening ceremony in the afternoon when hardly anybody can attend it. That's the way it's always been done.

If the competition hasn't started yet, then what is being shown on CBC TV today at 3? A preview show?

Don't know either! Set PVR to record anyway.

Also my Bell sat has all the 8pm times as 7pm? I went to the CBC website and it's listing as 8pm. Weird. Saturdays 5pm is 4pm on my listing. I'm making sure everything gets the 1 hours sports extension just in case.

And does anyone else have weird sounds during Figure Skating on CBC? All season the sound has been crappy. Some dropouts, sound changes etc. Wondering if it's the Bell feed because CBC newworld does the same thing however every other show on the regular CBC network has been fine. So I know it's not our sound system.

Has anyone ever tried watching Universal Sports at Buffalo Wild Wings? At this point I'm considering trekking down to the nearest one and seeing if they'll turn on the skating for the sessions I really want to see.

I just popped into CBC's 3pm one hour coverage. They seem to just be showing skates from previous competitions.

That has to do with the change to Daylight Savings Time I think.

Well, thanks a lot Eurosport/Sky/whoever it is that messes about with the EPG listings!!! :scowl:

As British Eurosport’s coverage of the Men’s SP was being shown in the middle of the night, I went to bed and recorded it to watch in the morning. I set it to record through the EPG listing on the Sky+ box.

But, when I got up this morning, instead of recording the 3 hours that the listings said, it had only recorded 92 minutes!!!

The recording had started half-way through Alexander Majorov’s SP, and finished half-way through Tomas Verner’s SP. So, that was Mura and the whole of the final group missed!!! :jaw:

This frequently happens when I try to record things on Eurosport. They adjust the listings due to events over-running/finishing early, but they end up making a mess of everything!!! Grrrr!!!

So, my viewing of yesterday’s skating didn’t turn out too successful.

Arggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Has there been a change to the competition schedule or something?! Because I was expecting to be watching the 1st group now, and I'm actually getting the 3rd!!!

According to the ISU results site, local time is GMT-5 (screenshot). Therefore, 11:45 LOC should be 16:45 GMT.

So, why did the Pairs SP actually start at 15:45 GMT???!!!

Off to YouTube now to see if LaRiserva have started putting up any vids yet, so that I can try to catch up on what I've missed.

CaroLiza_fan

In light of the mess that I made of watching the Pairs SP (i.e. missing the first hour), could somebody please confirm what time the Ladies SP starts today, in GMT.

According to the ISU results site, it is supposed to start at 10:45 LOC. In theory, that should be 15:45 GMT, but after yesterday, I’m taking no chances.

Given that LaRiserva didn’t get the first group of the Men’s SP, I really don’t want to miss the start of the Ladies competition. Especially since the first skater up is absolutely gorgeous… ;)

Thank you
