After watching these WJ, I noticed that Martinez (5th place overall) really has the best male Biellmann I have ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKkfVeEytKM (in the final spin):points: It's better than many of the girls!!
Other Biellmanns from the top Men:
Plushy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVxkIuTKRcs (final CCoSp)
Yuzuru: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jY4dfnVRgM (first CCoSp)
I can't find a video of Ten's Biellmann...
And then there is Maxim Miroshkin who does a SBS with his partner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orSYE17XTPc
Do you remember other boys doing Biellmanns?

Jason Brown? Idk if he technically does a biellman but the position he gets in his camel spin looks like one and is just  flexibility for a guy.

Also Moroshkin's biellman is unreal!

Martinez and Miroshkin tied for first, IMO. SBS Biellmanns are practically unheard of, and Miroshkin's extension is ridiculous! He's pretty much doing a full split in his Biellmann position. Martinez has a beautifully extended position, and his combination spin overall was up there with the top ladies (reverse entry to start, gorgeous I-spin, change foot, Biellmann).

I think the Biellman spin is the ugliest movement in figure skating - male or female!!!!

Sorry. :disapp:

I prefer donut spin instead of Bielman, I loved Plushys back before 2003 and Hanyus, and they dont drop the leg which is a pet peeve of mine. But wow Martinez has an amazing bielman!:eek:And I spin too!

Plushenko was doing bielman with either leg when junior. But when he was even younger he had amazing flexibility

There is no such thing as a good male Biellman! I think they should be banned. After Plushy pulled his groin, he couldn't do them anymore and his skating improved.

Martinez clearly obsoletes all the other male Biellmanns. It isn't even a competition. He also has the best Charlotte spiral done by any male skater, and it's a damn sight better than most female ones, too.

Maxim's Biellmann is the second best I've seen.

Plushenko's Biellmann never looked that great. It always looked like a wishbone that's about to get snapped. Same with Denis Ten's.

The worst Biellmann of all though, has to be Yuzuru Hanyu's. Hanyu's Biellmann is clearly thrown in for the level feature, and sometimes he doesn't even hold it long enough. It's a massive effort to get it into a very shoddy position, and when he lets go of it, that leg comes flying down like a bat out of hell. It's a shame that the negative GOE that awful Biellmann should incur isn't enough to make up for the points he gains with the higher level spin.

Males should not do Biellmanns, so in my opinion they are all ugly. That and face caressing.

Never mind Biellmanns. I vote for Ina Bauers, especially Shizuka Arakawa's. The About-dot-com site uses both photo and text about Shizuka to illustrate this move. The article further says that Japanese fans don't call it an Ina Bauer but instead call it "the Arakawa way." I completely agree! (Interestingly, though, the article says that what makes an Ina Bauer isn't the backbend but the position of the feet on the ice. So non-backbenders such as Gordeyeva and Kwan are doing a perfectly fine variation of the move.)

Biellmanns look like a chiropractor's dream move. They can't be good for you.

Yep, bending the back is actually a variation called the 'layback ina bauer.' I was a little surprised when I first found out as well.

Reo Ishizuka's Biellmann here still isn't as good as Martinez's (the free leg is a bit too bent). But I'm super-impressed by his skating skills and general presentation. Great stroking and knee action, and very lyrical movement. He already has a more refined and developed style than the vast majority of top level senior skaters. I hope he keeps at it. He may very well be a super skater in the making.
