The Professional Skaters Association named their picks for the best programs at US Nationals. One award is given in each discipline. The awards are named in honor of Edi Scholdan, the first president of the PSA , who died in the 1961 plane crash that killed some many US skaters and coaches.

The award is based on the "total performance" with an eye to costuming, presentation, music selection, choreography, style, and technique. Winners were determined by a committee present at nationals that reviewed all long and short programs at the junior and senior levels for each discipline.

Sometimes the awards are given to skaters that didn't win the gold, in fact, sometimes that come nowhere near the podium. Sometimes a short program is picked; sometimes a long. Sometimes a junior is picked over all the seniors. The PSA members who vote were all at the 2013 US Figure Skating and saw all performances live.

Without further ado here are this year's awards:

Perhaps the biggest shocker is in the Ladies.

For men's, I definitely would've chosen Alexander Johnson's Beatles FS as the winner. Great choreography, musicality, and just a wonderful performance all around.

Max Aaron's WSS had the most jumps, but the choreography was about non-existent for large portions of the program when he was killing time waiting for the half-way point and when he was skating around setting up for his jumps. I'd give him the award for the best jumps, but definitely not the best program.

Polina Edmunds was an unexpected choice, considering that they could have gone with Gracie Gold's nationals LP.

But hey! Go Polina!

I thought Polina's program was enchanting. Her dress, the first minute of the program with the choreo reflecting the music beat by beat, etc. Good choice.

I would not have chosen Max Aaron's program even in the top 10. Don't get that choice!!!!
