This thread is too adorable for words! Mann... I am suddenly feeling my biological clock ticking. To think, I only need 7 more years time to make something like my own Mirai (bundle of joy) on ice video with my new 2020 iPhone X skating to some crazy music I find adorable. (Oh dear I am starting to sense a lethal case of skating mum syndrome coming along!: Okay too much info... anyways.)

Highlights
- The 12 years old Michelle and Yuna clip on the first page should make the greatest inspiration vids for budding skaters everywhere, that shows even the very bests have had hard time in the beginning - you just have to keep working at it and you can be just as good as them (or even better?!).
- 5 years old Baby Mao made me purrrr, i can see why Japan (&later other parts of the world) fell in love with her.
- 10 years old Kevin Reynolds is among the rare current competing skaters who can claim they have beaten Patrick Chan, AND the one who got all the attention. Not bad. :) (I can't believe his hair is so neat! I thought he was born with cool electrocuted hair like my troll dolls)
- Baby Patrick Chan grinning adorably winning the Bronze  and no controversy!!!
- Tessa and Scott, their talent was apparent then as future world champions, especially Scott.

I think this link works better. :) Same program 5 months later. You can watch the whole performance instead of parts, and this was clean.

Yuna Kim (2003)
http://youtu.be/Q_LtIICJI50

I think 2003 is the oldest footage of Yuna we can find on Youtube. I really wish there are more videos of her we can access.

And thanks for this thread! They are all sooooo adorable. :)
Nothing complete as far as I could find, but there is footage of Yu na in 1997.

I like this thread a lot :). Thanks, aftertherain.

You're welcome! I figured a lot of skaters were getting all kinds of flack after Worlds, so I thought this would be a way to appreciate them all in a way that was relevant to skating instead!

Stephane Lambiel skating to Hernando's Hideaway in 1997: http://youtu.be/LYmRyFkRj1A

So adorable!

Oh, he already had such fast and well-centered spins!

Zhenya Pluschenko in JW 1995, 13 years old

He's been competitive on the senior circuit for so long that it's easy to forget that he was ever a junior!

Sasha Cohen (1999) - Junior Nationals short program!

I add my thanks. This thread brings back the enjoyment not only of skating but of the skaters.

As for Sasha, I've seen this video before, and it always reminds me how amazingly complete she always looked, even at so early an age. I think that this video is from the year before she showed up at Senior Nationals and very nearly pulled the rug out from under Michelle. Her short program at Seniors that year had the same refinement as her later skates--amazing.

Cripes, those two were splendid when they were knee-high to a gnat. Of course Kristi is always impressive, but when you think of Rudy's strength in relationship to his small size, it's even more breathtaking to realize that for a good while, they were the best pair skaters America had. (And for my money, they're better than anyone we have today.) I'm so glad that both of them, not just the remarkable Kristi, did so tremendously as singles skaters both competitively and as pros.

Davis/White (1999) - 6.0s for cuteness!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPO7FjnohJk

Can't get over seeing Charlie without the curly hair! He looks so different!

As for Meryl, well, she looks like, erm, a mini-Meryl! She has barely changed at all!!!

The Canadian Team, including Patrick Chan, Kevin Reynolds, and Virtue/Moir (2001) - More 6.0s for cuteness! AHHHHHHH!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy38EleBZ2s

Is it just me, or does Patrick look a bit like a much-younger version of Denis Ten in this clip?

I bet Kevin won't be too happy with this video being publicised! He was such a chubby little boy, compared to the really slim Kevin we have now!

Haven't watched the rest in full yet, but if they are anything like the others I have seen, they will be priceless!!!

OK, so these 2 skaters I am suggesting are still WAY cute! But, they were really cute when they were younger too!

Elena Ilinykh (as a singles skater!):

I admit, I cheated with this one - Elena posted a link to this video on her Facebook yesterday! But, when I saw this thread, I just had to add it!

Saw a great video of a VERY young Liza Tuktamysheva one time, but I can’t find it again. Grrrr!!!

So instead, here are a couple of videos from the 2008 season, in which she looks very cute! (There are actually vids of Liza from 2007 up on YouTube, but she is way cuter in these ones! ;) )

Gala from Mishin’s 2008 summer camp:

2008 Russian Nationals, SP:

Also, what about this news report from 2008, which includes an interview with Liza:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18Gq3Tf2Hc8

During the Youth Olympics, there was an interview with the podium finishers, and at one point Liza spoke a little bit of English. When I heard it, I just completely melted, and thought “she has a very sexy accent when she is speaking English”.

Well, now I know she even had a sexy accent way back in 2008! ;)

Wasn't Fabian about the same when younger? Maybe? Sometimes girls just have that extra fight and maturity when younger. They both just need more time. Curious though, are there any videos of him as a singles skater? Very cute, I would imagine...

Here is a photo of a group of local skaters taken at the Jet Centre, Coleraine in the mid-90's:

Included in this photo are some significant names in Ladies skating in Northern Ireland:

10x British Senior Ladies Champion, Jenna McCorkell (from Coleraine), is at the end of the front row wearing the red skirt.

2008 British Junior Ladies Champion, Karla Quinn (from Rasharkin), is in the front row wearing the reddish-pink skirt and a yellow hair ribbon.

Jenna's original coach, Margaret O'Neill (from Belfast), is in the back row weaing the blue sweat-shirt.

1974 (Jaca) World Professional Ladies Champion (and Jenna's current choreographer), Lorna Brown (from, er, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England) is wearing the black ski suit (which she wishes she still had!)
