Happy about Menshov at third. :p Stupid russian federation, they could've gotten a medal in London. I'm a fan of Menshov. Other than that: Not exactly a fun event. I don't know Mens have been lacking for the last few months.

Is that YMCA? Oh god.....

Depressing. I used to like Chan's skating for the soft knees in his jumps, but I saw none of that today, all of them, even the ones he landed looked a bit clunky. I get that he's a great dancer, but that shouldn't help his TES.
Joubert's score is even more depressing, though.
And the fact that Menshov ended up so high while his performance was my cookie-break :p Will have to watch on Youtube.

This competition judging is a complete joke. If it doesn't make it abundantly clear that something is horribly wrong with IJS, I don't know what will.

Don't worry. No doubt someone will turn up to explain not only why this is right according to the rules - but why this is the best of all perfect worlds... This is how it ought to be, and we should all be happy about it...

Did Chan deserve to win SP? I didn't watch him skate.

He fell on his 4T and a huge step-out on his 3A. Dai two footed the 4T(and probably Ured) and had a step-out of his 3Lz-3T. And Patrick has 6 points in front of Daisuke

How the hell is Patrick 6 points ahead with that...

Poor Brian and Daisuke, hopefully they're not feeling that screwed. Kevins score is way too high. This is supossed to be a fun event, and for now the scores are the biggest joke. Bleh.

I don't see a problem with Patrick in 1st as no one else really stepped up either. Hope Dai skates better in his free though. I hoped for a clean quad from Dai.

Everyone prepare for all the inflation talk that is about to happen

Well, before it starts, can I just ask something?

Just out of curiosity, who was the Chinese girl at the front of the multi-arm thing when Han Yan was getting his results? I didn't recognise her wearing glasses (proper ones, not comedy ones!)

Seeing her just made me realise that I have never seen anybody skating in a competition wearing glasses before. I wear glasses myself, and I know that I wouldn't be able to do much, never mind a figure skating routine, without wearing them!!! ;)

You don't see a problem with an 86 for that piece of crap he put out? Ahead of the rest of the field by a huge 6 points?

So thrilled for Menshov, who skated great; landed a huge 3A, a nice workman like 4t3t, and a decent 3Lz, but no way were either his spins or steps so great that he should be that close to Dai.

lol, we don't even have to prepare for it, patrick makes it simple for us... always falling, always overscored, it's expected... We just wait to see him falling on his butt, making another serious mistake and getting something close to 90 (leading of course).

Maybe they use contacts while skating? I think one's glasses would fly off pretty quickly...

Daisuke was underscored in the PCS department IMO. And if we take into consideration how everyone skated without any kind of reputation points, I would have 1. Konstantin, 2. Daisuke, 3. Max Aaron. Jumps are not everything but when you miss 2 out of 3 jumping passes in the SP it should be bad. I am sure Patrick got more points in his rotated 4T with a fall than Daisuke's 2footed UR'd 4T. And to me, this is wrong. At least Dai stayed on his feet

I don't have a problem with him being in the lead either. I have a problem with it being a generous 6-point-lead though.

Remember, when at worlds some people said it didn't matter if he was with 2,3 points more or less ahead? Then the free happened.
Now I can't help but think we might get the same again here.

I'm horribly short-sighted and cannot skate (well jump and spin and hefty dance practice) with glasses--have to use contact lenses. For just some mild stroking and puttering around, or doing figures, could use glasses.

Lackluster SP competition from the Men. No comment on the scores.

I am noticing that Chan didn't get a bunch of 9s in his PCS score--just one 9.0 for choreo. Too bad Hanyu didn't skate here. He could easily have beaten Chan's SP score.
