This thread reminds me of how tiresome it is when music is overused.
Especially music that "tells a story."
"East of Eden" is a beautiful piece of music, and Michelle Kwan's skate to it was incredible.
The magic wasn't lessened because she didn't tell the story of a man committing adultery with his brother's wife.

Actually, the current rules, even in dance, don't favor story telling.

Paraphrasing the dance rules, "If you've got to have a story, at least use one simple enough or well known enough that the audience can understand it without Cliff Notes."
