Russia would be crazy to relese him. he hasn't done a quad but what if he learned one in Italy and could be as clean as he's been with all triples? I can see why a person woke leave because it doesn't matter how kovtun skates he's always being sent places. He's bombed competition after competition as a senior in a majorly embarrassing way and it doesn't matter! "Send him to euros send him to worlds eventually he'll jus stop bombing and be number One!!"
There is a possibility that an Italian man won't qualify for top 30 to skate SP Men at Oly. Then Italy can assign anyone as a Men at Team Event, including Bariev, if Russia let him go.
Actually, it is a fairly strong possibility.
Neither Bacchini nor Parkinson qualified for the LP at Worlds this year; if neither qualifies at Nebelhorn, obviously there will be no Italian man in the Olympics at all except in the team event.

Bariev got a go from RusFed. His mother, and his agent, says he will be representing Italy in the Olympic season since "the rules often change". She didn't specify what exactly she meant by this:
It's just an error! Look at his last performances with all triples! So clean! What I'd he adds a quad? Then Russia lost a potential national champion. But like I wrote before seems like kovtun is favored no matter how he skates.
This guy can manage a 3A on rollers.. he could give Bariev a run for his money.
I am so, so interested to see what Dario Betti is like on ice. Does anyone happen to have any practice clips or knowledge of when he's competing first?
EDIT: I see his goal is the 2018 Olympics, so perhaps no competing until a season before then?
ANOTHER EDIT: Read on the interview that he's hoping to compete at Nationals. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him compete!
