Well, this is a wise decision! Debuting your new comeback programs in a GP wouldn't really be a super-intelligent thing to do!

How can Evan compete without a Quad?

Well, if he lands all of his triples, maybe he'll at least be on the podium(unless more skaters who can land quads consistently decides to compete there).

I think that he actually plans a quad... But, even IF he does land one quad and all of his triples, it couldn't be enough, even for a SA medal...

Ah, so here's where the comeback stops, when he gets on the ice at this B and is soundly beaten. Who else is going to this B? I hope some good skaters. Maybe it'll be one of Brown's supplements? Because Jason could kick Lysacek's backside any day of the week.

I am just curious, why does everyone hate Lysacek so much? I get that he doesn't have a solid consistent quad. But neither does Takahashi, Kozuka, Abbott, Amodio, Brown, or Miner, all of whom seem to get more appreciation here. I don't understand the level of hatred Evan seems to inspire.

Evan has done the quad before, hasn't he? I'm not a big Evan fan, but he has consistency and the ability to do two clean programs. He also knows how to squeeze maximum points out of every element he does. I think injury is more likely to hold Evan back than his inability to do multiple quads.

A result of the changes in 2010 was that you can not in almost any way squeeze out as many points as you could from not doing a quad as before. That's why quads came back not only in fs but sp too!!! Sp quads came back! Because of the huge huge changes! If his mission is to test whether this is true and the conventional wisdom is wrong that's his project!

I saw a huge improvement in Evan's style of skating after he'd appeared on "Dancing with the Stars." He learned a lot about artistry & presentation from the professional dancers on that show. If he competes I think many of his doubters will be surprised.

Evan did a very good 4t/3t at nationals 2007

It was quite exciting watching Evan throw down that performance on the live broadcast. I was actually a fan of that performance.

Too bad that he never had a performance after that came close to that one.

It's nice to hear that Evan is going to enter this minor competition, because he definitely needs it. He needs to do well, in order to prove his doubters wrong. And obviously, he has a lot of them after two aborted comeback attempts in the past two seasons.

When Evan pulled out of competitions in the past because of injury (2006 GP final, 2008 WC), I don't recall people questioning whether the injury was real or fake. Given that Evan's injury last year was severe enough to require surgery, only a true 'hater' could suggest that he faked injury last season. Evan has never faked an injury to get out of competing, and I have no reason to believe that he would this season.

Have to agree with this. He's not Johnny Weir.

He does have a history of groin injuries. But I would just be a bit sceptical if he didn't do so great at this B, and then pulled out of SkAm. Like, that's just a bit TOO convenient. But I am naturally sceptical of many things.

But unlike in 2006 and 2008 he has Olympic gold now and it is a radically different environment in skating! More changes in technical requirements has rarely been seen in the sport. No one doing quads in sp or or lp or barely anyone to almost everyone doing quads in sp an lp? this kind of radical change in jumping just has never been seen! Every single previous cycle saw slower technical change!
