Lysacek's PCS won't do jack squat if he's only doing two quads total and Aaron turns up with FIVE. The TES difference alone will kill it unless they give ol' flail-arms Chan-like PCS.

Last year's competition in Salt Lake turned out to be quite good luck for a lot of skaters - especially Max Aaron. That said - EVERY program looked ragged. It was the beginning of the year and not one program looked ready for Nationals or Worlds. To expect Max to do 5 quads or Evan to look polished is probably not realistic. It will only be a beginning.

What comparable did Ashley Cain in 2012/2013 season?
Yes, Samantha was 8th at Nationals, but she was 4th (1st of US) at JrWorlds.
    Ashley was 12th at Nationals.

I see, USFS thinks that Senior B's must be deserved, as JGP Events and ISU Championships.

The US lineup looks quite strong. I'm extremely excited to see Meryl and Charlie's Olympic programs.

This. The Classic will still be more than a month before the first GP event, so I don't expect to see many (if any) perfectly polished programs. It's a small enough competition, albeit an international one, that the skaters won't feel lazy/unprepared for showing up with works-in-progress. If anything, this event is a way to test programs and to set up a rough roadmap of what to expect on the GP, at Nationals, and hopefully at the Olympics.

Yes. I remember Ice Challenge-2012(Hague, 08-11 Mar), where Kostner's program was not so polished.
At Worlds (for less than a month, 26 Mar - 01 Apr), her skating was much better.

The coach of Moore-Towers/Moscovitch apparently would like them to return to SLC to defend their U.S. Classic title -- although this IN article seems to leave some wiggle room. It does not say that their return to the event is written in stone.

"Still sorting out entries," said @USFigureSkating in an impromptu Twitter conversation today.

[BTW, today, Aug 2, is the deadline for final entries.]

And if anyone is planning to attend in person, FYI, they said also:
    - "Everything from Wed. on will be open for ticket holders. Day & all event passes will be available at the door."
    - Passes will not be available to purchase in advance. "Everything will be available at the door. We don't expect you to have any issues getting them onsite though!"

That's right about the tickets. There is usually a table inside the front door. No problem with tickets or access to the building. For those planning on coming - you go upstairs to get to the seats. There is an elevator for those who have problems with steps. Also there is access to both rinks from the seats. You just go through the door. You can actually see into both rinks by looking through the windows. The main rink has many more seats than the practice rink.

    Pechalat/Bourzat will compete in SLC.
"Bourzat: Our first competition will be in Salt Lake City in September (the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic), because this is not overseas."

It was a tough choice between this event and SA but with Pechalat & Bourzat and Weaver & Poje added to Ice Dance, along with D/W and the Shibs, I made the decision to go to SLC next month.

Great line up at both events! That is why I am going to attend both.

There was an on site meeting recently. The full competitors list along with ticket information is expected the early part of this coming week. The organizers are very excited about the international competitors coming. The organizing committee is also working hard to get some good publicity for the competition this year. Hopefully there will be a good crowd this year.
