Me again, with another skating music request.:)

I'm trying to find the individual tracks used in these programs.

1) Elvis Stojko - The Mummy - 1999-2000 LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbCjKpvY8l0

(I just need the last minute or so - I found the rest of it)

2) Elvis Stojko - Merlin - 1998-1999 LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvOPisSQreI

I need the first few seconds - the vocal part - and then the last half.

3) Tara Lipinski - Sense & Sensibility/Much Ado About Nothing - 1996-1997 LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBrMZxhjWVY

4) Paul Wylie - Henry V - 1991-1992 LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nLhA7CVIok

Does anyone know which individual songs these skaters used? I've found most of the other routines I wanted, but these programs seem to elude me.

Thanks so much in advance.

Wylie's FS ends with the last minute of Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78 by Camille Saint-Saëns, also known as the "Organ Symphony." I believe the rest of his long program uses tracks from the Henry V film soundtrack by Patrick Doyle. ETA one of the tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3crpwGzXYw

Patrick Doyle's two film soundtracks are used in Lipinski's FS - first part is from Much Ado About Nothing, including the famous "Overture": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJKPLjjE91k ;
5:15-7:30 is from Sense and Sensibility, beginning with "Willoughby": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W061OPR0zNI; last part is back to the Overture of MAAN.

I didn't realize that Doyle also wrote the music that Tara used. Thanks, Sylvia. I love his soundtrack to Henry V, and I'm always excited when I watch that Wylie program and we reach the Saint-Saens. That pairing has to be one of the all-time great music mixes in skating history. I wonder if Wylie still dreams about skating to that.

I'll have to check into the other two sound Doyle tracks you link to.

I have both of those soundtracks, Olympia - Much Ado About Nothing, Sense & Sensibility - lovely in both cases! Another deligthful soundtrack that Tara used was from Little Women (a relatively short soundtrack - coming in @ under 45 minutes, maybe even under 40 minutes).

Oh, yes, Little Women was lovely, and entirely suitable for Tara at that age. Wasn't it a Thomas Newman score? Very moving, and one of the things that made that version of Little Women able to hold its own among the three major film versions. (I can't choose a favorite version because each of the others also had something unbeatable; the 1930s version had Katharine Hepburn as Jo, and the 1940s MGM version had the incomparable Margaret O'Brien as Beth. To get her, they cheated and made Beth the youngest sister, so Elizabeth Taylor could play Amy both as a girl and as a young woman. Clever planning, if you ask me. O'Brien was simply stunning. A fourteen-year-old tragedienne. I sobbed through half her performance. In fact, June Allyson wrote somewhere that after filming the day of Beth's final scene, she had to pull over in the car on the way home and cry, because she couldn't keep driving safely.)

I'll hunt up the other Doyle scores on YT.

I have only seen the most recent version of Little Women with Wynona Ryder, so I'll have to check out the other versions as well.

Oh, my goodness, are you in for treats! The one thing you'll find wanting in both of the older versions, though, is the casting and characterization of Professor Bhaer. Who could compete with Gabriel Byrne? Casting him in the role conveys the charm and strength that makes it believable that Jo comes to love and admire him.

I also love Susan Sarandon as Marmee; strong and vital, not just dear and motherly. For my money, she's the best Marmee of the trio. Another brilliant thing that the Ryder version does is to have a real child play Amy, and then an older actress play her later on. Amy was twelve at the start of the book, and she had a child's fussy, self-involved vanity. That really comes across with Kirsten Dunst in the role. I think all three Jo's are splendid (June Allyson actually had the tomboyish straightforward Americanness that suited the part, though Hepburn was born to inhabit Jo). But I confess that I'm still waiting for the ideal Laurie. Even Christian Bale doesn't do it completely for me.

Thank you for creating this thread. I think this will be a good database for people to find some of the rather obscure pieces of music in skating.

1) Daisuke Murakami 2009-2010 SP - West Side Story
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLm-30GhAFM

Very interested in finding who created this modern arrangement.

2) Takahiko Kozuka 2009-2010 SP - Bold as Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOIQDSjBQxo

Same here. Love this piece.

3) Takahito Mura 2010-2011 FP - Slow Dancing in the Big City
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMdx_boZgBs

This please too.

Thanks in advance again!

Thanks, that helps. Any ideas on Elvis' two programs?

Patrick Doyle did Little Women (Tara's version) too. He does some amazing scores: Hamlet (Kenneth Brannagh version), Eragon, Gosford Park, A Little Princess, Nim's Island, and Thor. I believe he also did some of the Harry Potter music.

He is one of my best favorite soundtrack composers, together with Hans Zimmer (all-time favorite), Vangelis, John Williams, and Randy Edelman. Randy did the music for Dragon and Dragonheart (both performed by Elvis Stojko) and Gettysburg (used twice by Todd Eldredge).

You're welcome, Snoopy. Sorry I can't help you with those ones, but hopefully someone else can. Maybe we can get the Mods to pin this thread?

Soundtracks: You forgot that Patrick Doyle did the score for Othello (Kenneth Branaugh version) and also Dead Again (the music was awesome again), which I believe is my all time favorite KenandEm original screenplay film. Overall, it's tough to say which is my favorite overall KenandEm film and I think I was more heartbroken than they were at the end of their relationship (personal and professional)

Interesting - that makes at least three Shakespeare films he's done with Kenneth Brannagh. (I can't remember if he was in Much Ado About Nothing). Thanks for letting me know - I'm going to have to track down Othello.

Yes, he was in Much Ado. That was the first film he and Em did together as far as I know.
