    Jason Brown

For those of who want to fangirl (or boy?) more over Jason's new programs and gush at his ever-extending flexibility.

Starting with karne's post WITH video!

Jason Brown - LP - Riverdance

Even if you didn't like his SP last year, give this year's a shot. It's been partially rechoreographed and I think he pulls it off with a lot more sass than last season - so sassy it's borderline suggestive.

Riverdance is too short ATM but IMO that's probably a build-him-up thing, since he's probably not fully adjusted to training at altitude yet. He clearly runs out of puff at the end (not surprising) but this is a really super program.

I was just about to come in here to do this.

But if we're going to have a Jason thread, I better go make a Joshua thread.

    Meanwhile, Jason =

My personal top 5 Jason Brown performances

2013 Junior Worlds FS -- 2 lovely 3A, and two 3-3 combination with in the last 30 seconds. Plus all the usual lovely extensions, spins and such.

2011 Nationals FS (Sadly, no where to be found....) -- Smashing senior debut for this kid. Even without a triple axel.

2011-2012 JGPF FS He won the competition with this program. However his Jr. Worlds performance was just as good, if not better. Such a haunting program. So amazing to watch with some distance from it.

2012 Nationals SP This is probably my favorite short program of his (Though if he keeps improving his current one, it might get displaced).

2011 Nationals SP Love the peppy up beat music and how Jason rises with it!

Also yet another fan of Jason's new Riverdance program:

@jasonbskates just saw your new long program on face book ~ exquisite! keep workin it ! xo

Jason's 2011 Nationals FS (the best way - no commentary!). What I love most, I think, is hearing the crowd. At first they're just clapping and cheering like normal, and then you can hear a rise in the intensity as they realise that they are watching something truly special. If you look closely, you can see the crowd beginning to stand while he's still in his final spin. And he was just sixteen!

And meanwhile...the video of Jason's new LP has made 1300+ views. Already.

I was there in that crowd at US Nationals 2011! I've loved Jason's skating ever since. BTW, he got the same reaction from the crowd in the SP as well.

    a truly special performer.
He's also a good exhibition skater. I really liked his 2013 JW hiphop number to MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This":

Sadly not available when I click on it. Guess I can watch it on Ice Network!

Some of those 1,300 views are from me clicking it over and over.....

We have news from Glacier Falls!

And that news is...Jason DEMOLISHED everyone!

    1. J Brown (UGL) 242.29 (159.42 FS) (82.87 SP)
    2. R Dornbush 213.09 3 4 (137.79)
    3. S Omori 212.28 4 3 (140.23)
    4. V Zhou 210.06 5 2 (140.45)

By all accounts he was magnificent. We're going to have to wait a bit for videos, but Shotaro did tweet this pic...

(Oh, and for the curious, the Riverdance video totalled 4600+. I didn't see what the final figure was; I left it for a day or since the last check and when I went back it had been deleted and I got a sit on the naughty chair from Youtube.)

Hi there! Just wanted to say, I am definitely a new fan of Jason's! Wow, he is doing so great for his first senior season and he seems so genuinely sweet and funny. His artistry is quite amazing, can't wait to see him grow over the next few years, he will be a force to be reckoned with when he gets a quad!
Aside from Patrick's great win (I am a fan), Jason was my next best highlight with his skating and his beaming face on the podium. How cute was he talking to Chinquanta while he was giving PC his medal.
This kid is a star and I wish him all the best!!!

    Jason Brown is going viral

This really shouldn't be a surprise considering how amazing and inspiring his free skate was, but Jason's long program at Nationals is starting to go viral.

And it should. The moment is just that spectacular. He has arrived.

It got it's own article on buzzfeed and currently the third top article on the website. Also the link to the youtube video has over 420,000 views. Funny how NBC might have figure out that letting the nationals videos stay on youtube will help them with Sochi Ratings. Tons of folks who don't typically watch figure skating are making statements to how they can't wait to see him at Sochi now.

I also wanted to add, that after this performance, for me Sandra Bezic offered the quote of the competition.

    Here it is:
"What's exciting about figure skating is that it can accept all kinds, there's room for all kinds, there's room for the entertainer and artist, and the athlete."

I have to say she used to drive me nuts, but I've grown to really like Sandra over he years.

Samson, I SO agree re Sandra, in general and about that particular comment. I actually wrote that comment down I liked it so much! I thought she was excellent all weekend. She truly appreciates very different types of skaters. She also doesn't let Scott get away with too much mindless cheerleading- she gently pointed out that Jason's 2nd triple axel was two-footed, emphasized the problem with Jeremy doing a double double combination etc even as she praises both guys to the skies in ways they deserve.

The fun part was finding myself in the audience heh. I had posted this in the men's free skate thread, but yes it merits it's own thread. It's not everyday that figure skating makes it on a website that usually posts cat gifs. Several of my friends have reposted to their pages since I posted it on Facebook.

Jason Brown calls Kori Ade his inspiration

Jason wrote a beautiful letter to his coach Kori for her 40th birthday. He nominated her as his inspiration in the OCTanner Inspiration Awards.

Lovely to see Jason giving credits to his coach. Hope they can continue their professional relationship as long as possible.
