If anyone cares:

This year's tentative schedule for Philadelphia Summer International has Men's SP on Thursday and Men's FS on Saturday.

I care! Thanks for the information. That competition always gets some amazing skaters. I'm hoping to attend.

Update: Still tentative, but a new tentative schedule was published.

For Philadelphia Summer International, now showing Men's SP on Friday and Men's FS on Sunday.

I'm glad someone is telling me who Molly Yeh is, because the next time I watch the Food Network will be the first time I watch the Food Network.

#JasonFansAreAlwaysLearning

:agree: Yes, lots of the lucky SOI skaters also posted on social media about Molly and the special cake that she made for them.
But I apparently had been living under a rock :hopelessness: until then and had been previously unaware of her. Happy to hear about her upcoming Food Network show.

IIRC, the group photo of Molly and the SOI skaters was discussed in this thread at the time … partly because Jason could be seen wearing some sort of ankle support.

Apparently the hair IS still long enough for a bun.

Skating skills class. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkLcO2YjihS/

OK, I give up, who's the guy who takes over the screen at the end of the shot?

And I'm amazed Jason got that hair into a bun, particularly since it's probably curling again by now. Not that we would know since he still wears a cap in every single shot:laugh:

More Jason and Evgenia, including hair that appears scraped back into a bun:

How he is doing that with hair the length he showed in that clip I do not know, but product is a wonderful thing:laugh:

I wonder if Jason and Zhenya are traveling back and forth to the rink in Jason’s car? I’m sure Toronto has a good public transit system, even when the Browns aren’t dancing in it, but I have no idea where the rinks are.:scratch3:

Can’t answer the rink and car question, but about his hair: I can’t speak from experience (I have very nearly stick straight hair), but isn’t curly hair actually longer than it looks? Meaning if he pulls on it to scrape it back into a ponytail, the wavy hair will kind of stretch out straighter and longer? Of course, it may look very dumb and full of bobby pins up close.

I am curious about the training schedule, actually: what are they both doing at this rink? Just getting ice time bc TCC rink is full of classes or lessons? I think (?) David Wilson is still in Japan, so choreography seems unlikely.

I can shed a little light on the hair length. My hair always looks shorter in the summer because it curls extensively in the humidity. From wet to dry the length can change by over an inch. Jason probably straightens his hair when drying it and then uses product to get a small manbun (or dumpling as it translates from Japanese).

I noticed one of the comments on Jason's instagram post from yesterday was by Your Peak Performance:

yourpeakperformance Have fun! See you guys tomorrow

Here's the description from their website:

Your Peak Performance is a Skating, Sport Conditioning and Personal Training company dedicated to assisting individuals in achieving their peak potential. We specialize in many areas guiding athletes and individuals of all ages, levels and abilities in achieving their goals and beyond. We offer Figure Skating, Learn to Skate, Hockey Conditioning and Personal Training programs in the Greater Toronto Area.

I'm guessing that Jason and Zhenya are on the same training schedule for now and had a session with Your Peak Performance today.

OMG, this I have not seen before:

Baby Jason spiral :luv17::luv17::luv17:

He *needs* to post that whole routine:biggrin:

:)

I love the audience oohing and ahhing for the baby Jason spiral!

I wonder what made him want to try it - was this the period where he was inspired by Josh and Rohene? I thought that happened when he was older - he still looks pretty young here. Did he watch girls doing it and say hey, I want to do that? Did Kori suggest it? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have to say that ever since TSL suggested he could do the Evgenia/Sasha Cohen skid spiral, I’ve been dying to see him do it! :)

The Scotiabank Pond, the site of the Greater Toronto Skating Academy, where they were, is not far from TCC: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Greater+Toronto+Skating+Academy/@43.7392312,-79.4569881,14z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xb22153886423eb87!8m2!3d43.7446883!4d-79.4757845?hl=en-US

If you zoom out a bit, you can see to the east and a bit south the neighbourhood to which the Cricket Club has given its name.

I'm not sure if it's the rink the TCC hired during the Olympic season, but it's closer than some of the other big rinks in the area, like the ones the RTC and the YRSA use. IIRC Gabby and Javi (and maybe others) sometimes used it when there was need. Brian mentioned doing this again to keep the energy positive at the rink (make sure everyone has access to quality ice time with not too many rinkmates working with a specialist at once). Obviously something like the stroking class is meant for larger groups, but for other types of on-ice training it's probably good to limit numbers. I'm not sure if that's needed yet, since Javi, Yuzu, and Boyang aren't there, but perhaps they wanted to try it when stakes are low? Or maybe the juniors, whose season is starting soon, needed more time at TCC?

Thanks, Haleth, for the Toronto orientation, and the map! I knew Toronto was on the water, but seeing it on the map puts stuff into perspective. From the pictures I’ve seen, it looks a bit like Chicago, but I understand it’s a lot more multicultural- like New York? Anyway, I bought tickets to the Autumn Classic, so I’m really hoping I’ll get a chance to see TO for myself. Even if Jason doesn’t compete there I’m sure there will be some great skaters, and it will be a fun trip.

Thanks also for clueing us into the the training environment! I figured it was probably something like you suggested - making sure everyone has enough ice time and doesn’t feel crowded. And that little girl was so cute and looked so thrilled! It’s great that so many wonderful skaters and coaches are there - and many for me to learn about, including some of the younger Canadians. And it gives us lots of possible glimpses via social media into how things are.

I think it’s so great that the group is so diverse, and it’s cool that Jason and Evgenia (and Boyang, when he arrives) can be the newbies together and explore the city.

Anyway, I guess it will be awhile before we hear anything about new programs but maybe Jason will make a v-log one of these days soon.

No worries! Toronto, although it doesn't have the Old World charm of places like Montreal and especially Quebec City, is a vibrant and energetic city with lots of green spaces. I'm not sure Oakville (which is mostly known for the Ford Plant) is as exciting (though I hope I'm wrong), but you will be close to the green space the rink is set on. Let me know if you need any assistance with your stay. I can tell you there is GO (light rail/inter-city bus) service between Union Station in downtown TO and Oakville, in case you prefer to stay in TO, though if there are hotels near the rink, I suspect they'd be cheaper than rooms in TO proper (plus you'd have a shorter commute). The ride from the Oakville GO station to the rink will take a half hour, so that has to be added onto the trip from TO.

I have tickets to Thursday and Friday at the ACI, but unfortunately was unwell and slept through the opening of the main sale of tickets yesterday and so have nothing covering Saturday. Although I have a faint hope I might still get something, I'd be at least happy to do a meet-up of fans on Thurs or Fri. And having security in numbers is a good thing for an event with hundreds of women and one (1) washroom. There is a second one but I imagine that it will be for the athletes (very understandable!).

With luck Jason and other members of Team Cricket will be there as it is so close, perhaps as fellow fans, even if their schedule requires them to compete elsewhere. Which makes me wonder, what GP assignments will Jason likely get? Would he go to SC again so to avoid Nathan at SA (I'm assuming N will choose it)? If so, hurray, because I already bought all-event passes for SC.

Training day 3:

Strength and Conditioning Class (photo)

Jason, Zhenya & Gabby (video)

So ... How many of us re-watched The Scent of Love FS after watching the totally adorable video Jason posted yesterday? I did!

Yes, Baby Jason’s spiral is cute, but adult Jason’s spiral is, well, to die for (and really the only LP I can watch from last season is 4CC, I’m not sure I’ll be able to rewatch Inner Love any time soon, knowing what happened at Nats:( )

And I am getting very spoiled with the IG story a day; Jason making up for lost time during “the search”;)
