Post in Yuzuru's fan thread? Or post in Jason's fan thread? Well it's Jason facing the camera so...

This is the moment at the end of the TEB gala, when Yuzuru goes to high-5 Jason, but a high-5 is not good enough for Jason... :-D

That's great his family decided to visit him. I'm sure he's still training through the holidays, so it's good he still gets to spend Christmas with his family!

Not that it matters, but the Browns are Jewish, I believe? (What I'm pretty sure was a lovely bar mitzvah photo of Jason was on his FB page, IIRC. Reminded me of some bar mitzvahs in my own extended family. :))

Whether they celebrate Christmas or not, no doubt the Browns welcome any opportunity to gather and enjoy each other's company, as any far-flung family would. I hope most of them will be together again in Boston.

(If the answer to my question above is Yes, maybe that explains in very small part why Jason could use a few Christmas suggestions. ;) In any case, absolutely agree that he is very sweet to be such a caring roommate.)

Ohhhh yeah! I've never seen Jason's FB page, but I do remember now they are Jewish -- I remember him making a reference to Thanksgivinkkah in a tweet. And his wikipedia entry mentions that he's had a bar mitzvah.

And yes I agree, they seem really close, so any excuse to get together is a good one even if they don't officially celebrate Christmas. I think they were also in town to celebrate Jason's 19th birthday. https://twitter.com/jasonbskates/status/415274888975228928

I think the family will be reunited again in Boston. I believe his sister is a junior at Tuffs. :)

New blog from Jason:
Jason the dream: Brown's life as a senior begins
Rapid success puts jovial Trophée Bompard medalist in Sochi contention

http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2013...-browns-life-as-a-senior-begins?tcid=tw_share

A very awesome roundup about his senior events so far. Also details on how he celebrated Christmas with his roommate.

Also he write very nice words about Nobunari Oda:

It was truly an event I will never forget, which included competing alongside one of my favorite skaters, Nobunari Oda. Now hearing about his retirement from competitive skating makes me appreciate even more the opportunity to be at an event with him. Nobunari could not have been more friendly, gracious, supportive and joyful. His warm, humble attitude, after everything he's accomplished, makes me respect him as a person and athlete even more. When the men's event was over, he even helped me cheer on the U.S. dance team (Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue) dressing up in the red, white and blue paraphernalia I brought and shouting with us!

And also his memories of watching Jeremy Abbott and Mirai Nagasu at the last Olympic year nationals:

Four years ago, I was a junior in Spokane, Wash., watching the senior men take the ice competing for an Olympic spot. I remember it so vividly; the atmosphere was filled with an intense, nervous, excited, anxious, amazing energy that I still have a hard time describing. The crowd was silent as the final group of skaters in each discipline took to the ice to start their programs. Nothing could compare to that eruption from the standing crowd, surrounding those skaters who were alone on the ice in tears knowing that they've just put out the skate they've spent countless hours training for. I was sitting there with Kori watching, feeling, and experiencing it all!

Sitting by her side, I was overwhelmed after Jeremy Abbott skated a skate no one will ever forget to make his first Olympic team and winning his second U.S. title! We watched as Mirai Nagasu, skating last in the ladies event, went out determined and focused like none other, skating her way to Vancouver, bringing the crowd to its feet!

It's crazy to think that this year I won't be in the crowd watching, but I'll be standing on the ice with my coach next to the rink's entrance. I will be that skater alone on the ice, and I can't wait to experience it from the other side of the boards.

"Orange Card" interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFHf4-wu840

Done with a group of fans from Spain during Trophee Eric Bompard.

Jason was willing to answer the hard questions. :) Though he definitely was creative in his side steps. So interesting to hear that he really likes Javier Fernandez, or as Jason said, "obsessed."

Not surprisingly, the entire blog is great, but the part about Jason's first Christmas brought me to actual tears (not just almost ;)).

Yes, the Christmas part was really touching. Totally wrong regarding the breakfast item. Though it was crepes or blintzes...turned out to be swedish pancakes, which I also love.

I was at the Broadmooor Fire and Ice exhibition yesterday and Jason skated his short program -Kori Ade had all her students going to Nationals skate at this exhibition, even though they train at the nearby Monument ice rink. Jason was PERFECT! If he skates this way at Nationals, it will be amazing. Jordan Mueller also did very well.

More about Arsenio Hall's friendship with Jason -- PLUS thoughts from Jason in general (on his successful season, his outlook on the Olympics, etc.):

Arsenio Hall in the corner of family friend Jason Brown

Excerpt :):
... one fan hasn’t missed a single spin, Axel or charismatic element from afar: Arsenio Hall.
“I watch every performance, either in person or on video,” says the legendary talk show host and comedian. “It’s hard for me to believe it’s Jason when he is on the ice. He’s two different people.”
... For the Olympic season, he skates to Prince’s “The Question of U” for his short program, a musical taste Marla credits to Arsenio’s influence.

Max was a no show and Josh did skate his long program to Schindler's List. It was not his night- he fell a couple of times, once on his quad attempt and even kind of stopped skating in the middle of the program. The men's competition at Nationals is certainly going to be interesting!

Speaking of people and travel delays...
It looks like that Jason is stuck en route to Boston...but lucky for him he's stuck in Chicago! So he can at least hang out with the family! Here's hoping he'll get to Boston quickly (well as quick as one can in these situations) and safely!

The plan was for me and my mom to meet up in Boston tonight...Turns out my mom arrived, but after a few canceled flights, missed connections, delays, and airline changes for me, I somehow ended up home in Chicago with my family for the night...minus my mom! Off to the airport again in four hours! Can't wait to get to Boston...#boston2014
