In triple era how many triples landed cleanly at each worlds and olympics

How many triples and 3/3 landed cleanly by the winner at Worlds and/or Olympics? At what age.

I posted this question because given all the talk about number of triples, 3/3s and the injuries. I'm curiouse to know what's the physical limitation in ladies.

The past have shown that when a girl was young (younger than 16) they could've hit 3/3 or 7 triples program like nothing, (Tara, Sarah, Michelle, Irina?). But when they getting older we raerly see them do 7 triple clean program, (MK recent years).

Given that a 7 triple program is legal only if you have all 5 different triples. Considering most US girls are flutzing, and some are seriously flutzing to the point ppl saying they don't really have the lutz. I would say some 7 triple programs were actually ilegal.

I read some where that learnning Lutz at young age it is extremly difficutl to maintain outside edge, since the girl lack strenghth. So most young girls having 5 triples, actually flutzing or never have the lutz.

All this leads me think where is the balance age?

Hope my post dose not confuse you.

Mzheng, I often wonder myslelf. To me, figure skating is about the overall package. Too often, ladies put so much energy into those 7 triples that everything else suffers. I wouldn't mind seeing the number of triples descreased in the rules.

Crazy lazy American girls (and Tim Geobel) with their flutzes. :\ The whole notion of "flutzing" and "lipping" is silly. Why count a jump when it goes against the jump's very defenition? I guess not everyone can have a true lutz and flip like Maria Butyrskaya :D

thvudragon, thank you for giving Maria credit where credit is due. I think because her nerves would frequently get to her, she is rather discounted as the champion she was/is.

I have not noticed it so much, but is "flutzing" strictly an American thing? That would be an interesting observation, as there seems to be different focuses for American skaters vs. Euro or Russian skaters. On the plus side, how many great spinners come out of Russia, vs. America? In my estimation, not too many (of the "top" names....not many of the non-Plushenkos or non-Slutskayas are televised here!)

Hey try our new Junior Nats champion. She has the true lutz entry, did she do a flip in her exhibition? Though lutz was a little cheated at the end. But it will be OK, if she try some Lutz comb late.

Flutzing wasn't necessarily american. Lu Chen flutzed like nobody's business. It's strange that AP flutzes and lips...quite funny to watch. maybe she should change her program order...

I agree that flutzing an lipping is not necessarily american ladies however:
A rumor that goes un-chanllended becomes fact therefore I had to reply
"LU Chen flutzed like nobody's business"- my reaction was  and :sheesh:

Lu Chen had the most beautiful pure deep outside edge lutz that alot of ladies could have only dreamed of. She rarely if ever flutzed. Think twice before you post about the Mid- 90's poetic lyricist on ice that was Lu Chen. If anything AP underrotates her jumbs but she DOES NOT flutz...she lips!!

now if you said Sarah Hughes flutz like nobody's business you'd wouldn't hear a peep outta me. :p

no hard feelings just seeting the record straight.

Flutzing not only happens to US skaters. Not many Russian lady skaters have huge lutzs. Suzuka Akahara has beautiful true lutz, so does Julia Sabestian. But they never win any major titles.

I checked my videos of Lu Chen's 95 and 96 lps. She had a beautiful back outside edge take off. Of course, she had that long glide that has some screaming telegraphing. Is there any way to escape criticism with this jump?

But they both lip as well.

Back to the topic, can someone help answer my original question? Your effort will be appreciated.

Good point, Ptichka - And don't forget the CoP scoring system will take figure skating into the incredible world of extreme tricks. I can see the Ladies with quad combos and Men with Quints within 5 years.

True, not everyone skates like Maria.

I agree with your point, TV, and I think that Mr. Cinquanta and the ISU (and especially it's Technical Committee) are greatly to blame. When a skater who does not even have a Lutz jump in her repertoire consistently gets credit for doing two per program, with positive COE, in the Grand Prix series, I think it's time for the ISU to do a better job of educating the judges and the technical specialists.

I may sound horribly mean for saying this, but I would LOVE to watch any flutzer/lipper skate, and for him/her to be completely shocked by marks when he/she was only given credit for 2 flips instead of 2 flips and 2 lutzes in the program. I think that would really force skating federations to really buckle down and teach correct technique on those jumps. Now, I know this would KILL the US ladies...but they've got to learn sometime!
