Senior Men's Short Program

The Senior Men's event was the most competitive. There were some massive scores, considering that all the skaters came from nations that are not traditionally strong in skating.

1. Brendan Kerry
Content: Triple Lutz Triple Toeloop, Triple Flip, Triple Axel.Despite some trouble in the second half of his program he managed to obtain a technical score of 35.61. Strong component marks from him too- especially for skating skills and choreography- his presentation score was 31.76. With a fall deduction he earned 66.37 pts.

2. David Kranjec- triple Toeloop triple Toeloop, Double Axel, Triple Loop- he had good levels for two spins and a step sequence but he fell on his final Sit spin- he earned a technical score of 27.14. He received strong component marks too- especially in skating skills, choreography and interpretation- his presentation score was 31.75. With a fall deduction he earned 57.89

3. Mark Webster had a great short program which is great, especially after a rough season last year. He had a solid triple Axel and jump combination- he did however get an invalid element call on one of his spins and he had trouble with his triple flip. He also didn't hit all the levels for the spins. his components have also improved. 26.84 + 28.49 = 55.33

4 Julian Zhi Jie Lee of Malaysia was a surprise! He had a Double axel, triple Salchow Double Toeloop and a good triple flip. He also got solid level threes on his spins and step sequence. He also had above average components. He finished with 55.19.

5. Maverick Eguia of the Phillipines struggled in the short program with an invalid element call on his Upright spin, an incorrect edge on his triple lutz combo and doubled his triple flip. He lied in fifth with 43.01

Behind them were the Dodds brothers and two skaters from Hong Kong

In the Ladies, Chantelle Kerry took out the Ladies Event but was unable to beat Brooklee Han's score of 141.88 which was achieved at 2013 Worlds in London Canada. A decision in the coming days has to be made by Ice Skating Australia whether to send Brooklee or Chantelle to Nebelhorn. Even though this won't decide who goes to the Olympic (that will be decided at Nationals in December), the ISA has to decide who would give Australia the best chance to grab one of the remaining quotas in the Ladies event in Sochi!

Chantelle Kerry continued to show great improvement with a solid free skate. Content included a triple toe-loop double toe-loop combination, An improved Triple salchow, Triple Loop Double Toe-loop Double Toe-loop (She turned out on the Loop and just saved the second Toe-loop). She did double and single jumps and that cost her alot of points. On the presentation side, she has shown massive improvement across the board receiving mid to high 5's for all components.

Technical Elements 39.74
Presentation Score 44.00
Free Skating 83.74
[Short Program 55.82]
Total competition Score 137.56
