Next week aussieSKATES will be sending our very own reporter to cover Team Australia at the ISU Grand Prix Series - Skate Canada International in Regina, Saskatchewan.

We thought it would be fun to do a quick Q & A with Justin Laem, a serious and dedicated YouTube vlogger, and long - time skating enthusiast, based in Seattle, U.S.A. Justin will be in Canada representing aussieSKATES (as well as his own site) during the week - long event.

The Formal attire for the 2018 Australian Olympic Winter team has been released.
My thoughts.....the shirt makes it look like they are working at a supermarket. But the shirt looks a lot nicer with the Blazer. I also like the nice detail of having the name of every Australian Winter Olympian on the inside lining of the blazer. Not a fan of the green jumper.
The competitive attire is yet to be released, but at this stage, I prefer the 2014 attire.

I just feel like our Winter Olympic uniforms are always so daggy compared with our Summer Olympic ones.

There aren't any full-length pictures, but I did notice that they have 2 types of pants for 2018 - ones that match the blazer and a tan/brown similar to those in 2014. In the 2014 pictures, I found the combination of the tan pants and the green blazer rather jarring. The matching pants look much better.

These garments, individually and combined could pass as school uniform items..... :noshake:

The uniform is not too bad, but the media reaction is so funny, I was laughing with tears after reading the first couple paragraphs of the news.

AUSTRALIA’S 2018 Winter Olympic formal uniforms have been unveiled and the verdict is in: they’re not bad — if you work at a bank.

“If I walked into ANZ and saw staff wearing this, I’d be impressed,” designer Alex Perry said.

Doesn't the Australian team usually have some of the coolest, most delightfully colored opening/closing ceremony outfits?

And the FD minimum too!!
Actually, they were quite close to getting the FD minimum for worlds.

I think we have found our clear #1 Ice Dance team.

not really clear seeing as the others are out with injury or not able to compete...

Today's performances remind me of how far elite Australian figure skating has come, and yet, how far it needs to go. I hope Skate Canada was an important experience for Brendan and Kailani.

Brendan landed the same number of clean quads as Uno, which was more than anyone else. So I'm really glad he got over that hurdle and hopefully woke a few people up. Hard to know how much the new FS played into the rest or if he just lost concentration (which let's be honest - his concentration loss was not the worst one today).

I thought Kailani was undermarked on PCS and I know I'm not the only one. She kept control over her FS well but I thought she looked almost too intense, like she was overthinking it. That's okay, it'll come.

Kailani Craine runs through her short program at Skate Canada. She includes a killer triple loop / triple loop for her combination.

That was awesome, hey!! I can’t get over how much more confident she’s become recently. Weird too since she looks taller (unless it’s just camera angles), and doesn’t that normally turn out to be a disadvantage? Unless she maybe gained muscle mass as well? Eh, who knows, at least she’s rocking it!

OMG! This is awesome news! I was just wondering if they were still going to show it...I mean I watch the streams, but there's nothing like watching skating in hi-def!

Of course...this means I have to clear my PVR from all the skating I recorded last year.
