In a nutshell, brendan won skate down under, finished 5th in both his JGPs and finished 8th at Nebelhorn, so brendan has competed alot already.

Also keep in mind that since the senior grand prix is on now, higher ranked skaters will be competing and will earn more points than what you can earn at a senior b or a Junior grand prix.
Also, brendan is 55th in the overall rankings so a massive improvement but has a ways to grow.

Ice Skating Australia (Australia's figure skating representing federation in the ISU) have released thair current national rankings as of October 14. Unlike a ranking system based on points, the ISA base rankings on the technical element score of skaters.

    What are your thoughts?

Thanks GF2445. Interesting to see that most of the competitive skaters hail from NSW and Qld and NSW, What happened to the Victorian skaters?

Basing the skaters' ranking on TES does make sense as I don't think any skater can progress far without first getting their skating skills to a certain level.

Good luck to the three Dodds boys (Andrew, Jordan, and Matthew) and Paris Stephens at Cup of Nice! (Matt and Paris are our pairs team, and Andrew and Jordan are there for singles!)

I am so glad to see the rising strength of Australia's programs. Would be very exciting to have more international events hosted there as well.
I remember when a Goodwill Games which was hosted there in the Kwan era, the athletes had such a memorable experience.

    Thumbs up

It's Friday everyone and that means the start of the Second Grand Prix Event! The 'Australian Figure Skaters' thread want to wish all the competitors participating in the 2013 Skate Canada International in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada all the best of luck. Even though there are no Australian skaters, I'll be rooting for everyone to go well and want to send a word of caution to the judges and tech panel....JUDGE FAIRLY...some of the judging at Skate America was...wow... Very high for this early in the season.

    Stay Cool everyone

It's an Olympic season. It's not surprising to see sky high judging. In 6.0, the 6.0s tended to come out early the Olympic seasons.

Is it? What a coincidence. I like D&R's FS (Alice in Wonderland) very much too.

Watching all the grand prix events makes me wish that Australia was in the grand prix...it has been more than a decade since we last had a representative people!! Cheltzie had the chance before she broke her back. Hopefully next season will be our season.
