Okay, so on Icenetwork, you can now watch the Glacier Falls Senior SP and LP (ladies and men). Brendan is the first skater in the SP and somewhere in the middle of the LP (he's right after Jason).

The SP is a jazzy kind of music, very cool, very fun, suits him quite well. SP jump layout: 4T< (I think?), 3Lz-3T, 3A, it was very clean and very gorgeous. LP was a disaster. I didn't recognise the first part of music but the second half was Rach, the same piece Joshua used for his second half in 2013. I think the program looks very new. He fell off the quad, stumbled on the 3A, and from there on it was a parade of stumbles, falls, slips, pops, trips, and a really horrible crash on a flying spin takeoff where he landed square on his hip  (He did get up from that one laughing, though.).

It looks quite nice, and I think it will be nice when he gets some miles into it. And also gets a new costume...he was wearing the Nothing Else Matters grey ombre shirt, so I might have been collapsed into a little pile of FEELINGS by the end.

Well at least we know that Brendan has got himself a quad! His SP jump layout is standard amongst the top skaters which is good news.
It is also obvious that his choreographers are making him try more daring choreography- i.e. facing the judges more with poses!!

Apart from getting it together in his head, there have been great improvements.

All he needs is belief in his training, use all the support he gets from family/friends/fellow skaters and like many top athletes, have faith in something- whether it's in a faith or faith in himself as a person, faith in their own abilities as an athlete, faith in his training or in people he knows him personally and loves/cares for him...and a SMART goal/person or value to look up or aspire towards.

If he can bring his short program focus/mentality into his long program, it will be a good first step.

Also, its the first skate so no need to gloom over it. He will improve.

So entries for Nagoya have been posted. Australia will send Chantelle Kerry, James Min and Matilda Friend/William Badaoui in dance. This will be an interesting outing for Australia with Kerry back after the Olympics imbroglio and three emerging skaters.

I am very excited to see that there are THREE Aussie Junior Ice Dance teams.

Matilda Friend and William Badaoui are competing in the Junior Circuit this season
Rhiarna Lagoutaris and Thomas Masters though not on the International Roster this season, are also Junior skaters and are the current Junior National Ice Dance Champions.

Then comes another one. Emly Pike and Patrick Abderley competed at the Summer Championships in Quebec.

Though they are very much in a developing phase (it is obvious from the video that their overall performance level is not at a high level yet- lots of shallow edges and not enough speed to let the skating flow), just the idea of having 3 Junior Ice Dance Teams is cool.

I believe Masters/Lagoutaris have retired from dance. Abderley has relocated to Canada.
Thats sad to hear. I didnt know as I can only find out things via the internet. Ive got no connections.
I though masters/Lagoutaris were still there as they had results for this years trophy night event and at the summer comp where pike and abderley are, they competed for Australia.

New to the Curcuit

With one week to go before the first Junior Grand Prix Stop this season in Courchevel, France. Representing Australia will be Renee Hambly of Newcastle on New South Wales' Central Coast. She will be making her first ever appearance on the Junior Grand Prix.

To introduce you guys to her, I've posted a like of the SP which she skated last year but she will be using next week.
Here is "Bond goes Gaga." Enjoy

A very powerful skater with the biggest jumps I've ever seen on an Australian lady. Huge, powerful, strong. Very fierce and great to watch when on.

I do hope she has worked on her long program issue, however.

Thank you for the clip, but urgh...the person recording reinforces why 'commentary' is so distracting. Save it for the after party.

Maybe so, but i am a big believer that sport needs some sort of commentary to guide the audience.but yeah its a fine balance and it depends on who the listeners are.
In this instance too much but these were probably friends of hers having some fun. They weresort of commentating like it was a rugby or football match where every little detail and strategy is pointed out with rule discussion and statistics etc. Thats the sort of commentary we here in our popular sports in Australia.
