Brendan has been a busy bee! He was part of the Evening on Ice show on the 18th (he skated to "Troublemaker" apparently, I am unfamiliar with this song?), and this weekend he competes at Glacier Falls where we will see his new programs for the first time :)

Kailani recently skated at MJS Trophy (was the only skater in Senior ladies) and, according to the protocols, landed a clean 3Lz+3Lo with positive GOE! Wow! (we'll see if it gets called internationally though, she often URs....).

Is she the first Australian woman to land this combo?

She'd have to be close! And panels are usually high quality at MJS - Australia really is spoiled for choice with the amount of ISU-level technical specialists and controllers. Do they use video replay there?

Maybe Kailani is the first Australian woman or man to land that combo in competition. I don't know, but maybe someone else does.

I believe Joanne Carter was planning this high - risk combination in the short program at the 2006 Olympic Games in Torino.

Well Done Brendan for a solid Free Skate this early in the season.
2 Quads, great triple Axel
Only 1 doubled jump here!

The music is Secrets by OneRepublic. It's a medley of instrumentals and the actual song. I really, really love this program.

He actually carried off the program really really well considering how buggered he looked near the end. Can't wait to see this one with a few more miles on the clock...and I wonder if that 3S could have one more revolution thrown onto it...

Reminder for any Sydney-based GSers that Nationals is in Penrith this year!

The videos from Glacier Falls are up on IceNetwork! No geoblock and no subscription required! Brendan's SP starts at the 20-minute mark.

Brendan's SP is the same SP as last year (the Boilermaker Jazz Band or something). New sparkly red shirt, I don't like it as much as the old one. The jumps were 4T(fall), 3A, 1Lz(pop, no combo). The program looks more polished up and fuller choreographically. I like it.

The LP is even MORE gorgeous in this video than in the fancam. He's the first skater in the FS video (obviously).

Kaiani and Brendan are doing the nation proud but how about a shout out to some of the other Aussies who are making inroads. Holly Harris, Katie Pasfield and James Min all had top 10 finishes at the Asian Trophy in Bangkok and Matilda and William achieved the Junior Worlds TES in dance at Lake Placid and were less than one point off the benchmark for FD. Kailani, James and M/W will make up the Aussie contingent at Colorado Springs GJP next month.

Nice Lineup for Team AUS.

In other news, here is a recent article about what Brooklee has been getting up to.
Love her music choices. As she is a violinist, it is natural to choose something like Vaughn William's "The Lark Ascending" for her Free Skate.
We wish her all the best of luck and an injury free season. If she and Kailani can continue to push each other, who know what might happen!

Just wondering if anyone knows why Brendan in not going to Nebelhorn?

Nebelhorn starts only four days after the end of the US Classic - Classic finishes on 20 September, Nebelhorn starts on 24 September. I was really surprised to see Andrew, Brooklee and Paris/Matthew on the entry list for Nebelhorn - they must be going to fly straight from Salt Lake City to Oberstdorf as soon as the competition's over.

I would not blame Brendan's coaching team in the slightest if they decided that that was a bad idea, to try that short a turnaround - remembering, of course, that Brendan has an actual Grand Prix to prepare for only a month later.

Just watched some aussies from Colorado Springs JGP...

Anyone have an idea as to why James Min would get a new short program that's almost identical to last season ??
