Hey everyone, feel free the discusson this thread!! Tere are some disucssion starters in the posts above and on the previous page.

Okay JGP Estonia.
Again a very strong skate from Brendan. Despite not making any major errors and having a sensational triple lutz triple toe-loop combo, he doubled his triple axel- though it was a nice duble axel, he left at least more than 5 points on the table. He scored 61.66 and is currently in 4th place with 3 skaters remaining.

Overall, nice job.

I hope Dani & Gregg can get the minimum tech level for Worlds in the SD at the Volvo Cup! (They were very close, but not quite there yet at Nebelhorn, and easily made the requirement for the FD). They have enough points for the Olympic minimum already though :).

Brendan's SP was just gorgeous, a shame about the 3A. But he got +GOE on every single element except the 2A (-) and the camel spin (neutral). Level 3s for the camel spin and the step sequence, level 4s for the other two spins, and a bonus for the placement of the 3Lo in the 2nd half. His lines

5th after the SP!

The ice dance competition at skate down under was too small for anything to count.

From my understanding, the ISU readjusted the minimum technical score for the SD to 28.00. Dani and Greg got 28.50 at the Torun Mentor Nesquik Cup in Poland and reults from the previous season carry over. I'll quickly check about the technical minimums.

According to this announcement after last season, the ISU council met in Vienna, Austria for their annual meetings. Under point 6 is the updated technical minimums. Dani and Greg are safe to compete at Saitama Worlds if they want.

We have one lady, one man and one dance couple for the Olympics. The same for Worlds.

Brendan Kerry, Brooklee Han and Danielle O'Brien/Gregory Merriman are our skaters!

Awesome. I hope they got the minimums; it is so fun to see skaters from all over the world. In a few years they might be like Spain (fernandez) fighting for OGM. I wonder what happened to that Indian pairs team - I so hoped they would go to the olympics but they could barely skate backwards.

Hey Golden Skate Forumers!

It's the final day of the final Junior Grand Prix in Tallinn, Estonia. This is both great and sad news. The great part being that our Olympic contenders can now begin to focus on doing their senior programs but the sad part is that one of them are on the Senior Grand Prix so finding videos of them at smaller comps will be a bit of a challenge.

First of all, a big congratulations to Brendan Kerry for his 5th place finish in the Junior Mens. E great thing about Brendan is that his level of improvement and the consistency in his jumps now is fantastic. You can tell what training under Tammy Gambill with training mates like Richard Dornbush has done to his skating.

His Free Skate was incredible with some heavy duty jumping content. This included a 3A+3T, 3Lz+2T+2T, 2A sequence and all the triple jumps- Lutz, Flip, Loop and Salchow. Despite a drawback at the start when he singled bis first 3A, it didn't impact the rest of his program. He also got improved component scores- safely in the 6's for 4 of the 5 components.

He managed to score a PB score of 126.60 for his Free Skate (which is amazing considering he only scored 80pts for the free skate at 2013 Four Continents- THAT WAS ONLY 7-8 MONTHS AGO!!) which was to music from 'Gangster Squad.' He finished with a total competiton score of 188.26 points. Well Done.

To put this into a weird perspective if we got his PB's and compared them to the results from 2010 Olympics its quite interesting. Keep in mind that the ISU, sich Vancouver 2010, decreased the amount of points in the Base Value of some of the elements and made some adjustments to the GOE.

Brendan's PB at Nebelhorn of 67.97 would've put Brendan 19th after the SP if he scored that at the 2010 Olympics.
Brendan's PB at JGP Estonia of 126.60 would put Brendan 17th in the FS if he scored that at the 2010 Olympics.
Lets take Brendan's PB's and add them together 67.97+126.60= 194.57...That would've left him in 17th place overall!!

But since 2010, the quality of skating has increased so the pressure is on.

Anyway, we want to wish Chantelle Kerry a big good luck. She is currently in 12th place after the SP. She will be skating to music from the American TV Show, Once upon a time. All the best Chantelle!

Videos from the smaller comps are erratic, but the good part is that no one takes them down off youtube, other than the owners of the music used.

Ice Challenge of Graz has video every year :)
There was video from Coupe de Nice last year, too.
And from Merano (Italy)

So it is not always as challenging as you might fear.

Thanks Dorispulaski. Ill look out dor those videos.

In other news, unfortunately Chantelle didnt go so well in the Free Skate. She made a couple of errors which cost her alot of points. She scored 67.31 points in the FS for a total of 111.18.
Considering that she had to compete last week in Slovakia then travel to Estonia without a break, she did a good job- she must be tired! Now she can head home and rest and do some solid training for her next comp- well done chantelle

Kerry fifth in final Junior Grand Prix

"I'm really happy with how I did my Free Skate," Kerry said from Tallinn. "A few small mistakes and one major one but I'm still really pleased and I got the World's Free Skate score, so I'm really excited about that."

What is the next event for Australian skaters ??

At the moment, the next event that will involve Australian Skaters who are in contention for the Olympics is the Volvo Cup in Latvia- Brooklee, Dani and Greg and David are scheduled to compete. Brendan is opting to continue training in California until the National Championships in Melbourne is December.

There are other Australian Skaters scheduled to compete at Coupe de Nice though. Will keep this page posted.
