TSL thread closed?
In The Edge, there was a thread about TSL not getting credentialed for the Salt Lake Senior B. Why was the thread closed? I wasn't sure who to ask about this.
As it said on the thread, the GS forums are not to be used for platforms such as this.
that post doesn't show up, just fyi

Curse you, vbulletin
I am confused with that statement. So we can't talk about skating blogs on skating forums anymore? I need clarification of what they meant by 'this is not a place to discuss platforms like these' it's vague!! I'm looking at the guidelines for this skating forum and I can't see which guideline that thread is breaking!
"thank you for understanding" I do not understand! It's kind of baffling! Strange!
I cannot say for sure, but I'm thinking this thread may have been closed in part due to my activity on it. In one of my posts, I said:
But overall I think they're [TSL are] doing a good thing and should be supported. Anyone else who feels the same way might consider emailing/contacting the USFSA to protest this recent decision, as I plan to do today.
Then, in another post, I provided a few publicly available email addresses to USFSA officials. And I said interested parties could send email to these addresses. Again, these are public email addresses that I pulled directly from the USFSA web site. However, this post was deleted, so I assume it was not acceptable to the GS Forum Staff. The thread was then locked.
This whole thing has left me feeling very odd, for several reasons.
1. I do not understand why the thread was locked. I can see that the forum directors might not want to include the direct public email addresses I provided. (Mind you, my thought was simply to help other like-minded members.) But if that was the decision, then why not just delete my post (as they did) and PM me, but allow others to continue posting? There was a good, legitimate dialogue going on. Why cut it off?
2. On a more personal level, I just feel a bit odd. I've been reading and posting on GoldenSkate for 10 years. I've never been a ranter or hater. I'm just a fan of this sport and love it and honestly felt strongly about this issue. It is a figure skating issue, after all. A quick look at TSL's Facebook page, and you'll see that many, many other fans have been commenting there about it, and even posting the text of their letters to the USFSA. And there's a 5-page thread about it on FSU.
I understand that GoldenSkate is a forum generously provided for public use and that the directors must retain some control over it. And I am very, very grateful that GS has given me and others a chance to participate in and learn about this sport. I just do want to make it clear that I very much appreciate GS and the service it provides. But still ...

I apologize for being vague. GS is not to be used as a platform for other outlets to "petition" or "riot" (even if started by someone else). This thread went full speed ahead in that direction.
Jenny and Dave (I think that's his name) have been very good to give a very one sided, heated, look at what has happened. The USFSA like many sports organizations have decided not to comment on it, so that gives everyone more fuel for the fire. I didn't see the posts that ultimately locked the thread down, but if it's anything like what has been posted on facebook then I see why it was locked.
That makes sense now
I defs agree that they are blowing ALOT of hot air into this. Poor Pat St-peter and Renee Felton and Mitch Moyer from USFS who are getting grated by TSL. IN SAYING THAT, TSL have a point--Does the USFS have the best interests of the skaters at heart?
Whether you agree or not on that, what we can agree on is that changes need to be made to open up so more people can take notice at skating through the internet and blogs.
That was never my intention. I apologize if I worded things that way, but I intended to open up discussion on how USFSA handles minor media who wish to cover figure skating.

If others would like to discuss the actions roles, regulations, etc, pertaining to other organizations and federations and how they do business, I suggest that they address them directly and not use GS as a platform to do so.
