I never had Loboda/Drozd on any radar last season on the russian ice dancers, they looked like some obscure russian team and probably still is
at least they had improvement on their flow and speed, they looked too old for juniors too !

I just love McNamara & Carpenter's Discombobulate by Hans Zimmer, from the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack, The Godfather Waltz by Nino Rota
FD. So many interesting and surprising moves! Their SD looked very junior, but this was great (I haven't watched the rest yet)

Bent/MacKeen-they so deserved to win the SD, but this FD doesn't suit them. And they managed to dance to 50's/early 60's style rock with having scarcely a move that evoked that style of rock. Of course, using 70's Carpenters versions of 50's/60's rock didn't help. I do see why they were 3rd in the FD, and if M&C had been a bit sharper in the SD, they would have won this. In fact, I would have docked B&M's PCS a bit more and they would have finished 2nd. They remind me rather of Karen Routhier & Eric Sauke-LaSalle, a team that used to compete for Canada a couple of years back.

Loboda is 14 and Drozd is 17--hardly too old for Juniors. However, Hauser / Lerche will age out after this season, as she turned 17 before July 1.

hardly believeable she looks about to turn 17 maybe because of their horrid nightblue dress
I would had Mcnamara/Carpenter first, the gap was just less than a point.

More evidence the Russia Dance development in juniors is very strong! That this team that was a replacement for two other teams won a FD! It's very interesting! This was not a just a team to be sent out as a place holder but was underrated and rose to the occasion and seized the opportunity and possibly may upset the junior apple cart!!

well they have a lot of polishing to do, too frantic and clumsy elements other than their speed, they can also start getting a better costume to get noticed
they won here with biggest TES that's it, they had lower PCS, Mcnamara/Carpenter messed up but they are also stronger technically

I frankly thought that Loboda/Drozd were amazing! I loved their FD!! I didn't like the SD, artistically, but this program is really beautiful (maybe it's just because there is the Italian music )... McNamara/Carpenter were beautiful, too, very mature skating and presentation! (And, their style is similar to D/W, I can see it clearier in this program) And, I have already said it in the programs thread: B/MK FD doesn't look really good to me, the SD is very good but this performance was clearly behind the FD top2...

I so agree. Carpenters was a poor choice of 50/60s music. You don't want soft music if you're doing rock--sort of like the Osmonds doing Rolling Stones. Their program seemed endless, the same sort of music and choreo repeated over and over, without the exuberance of that decade. B/M's lifts were awkward compared to M/C's.

    McNamara/Carpenter are really amazing
since their debut last season have never kept an eye off of them, they are the best juniors atm and no one can come close
they have great Skating Skills and Speed reminds me so much of Davis/White. They will be the net Big US Dancers for 2018 !
