Sounds about right although I think Menshov did a 4t-2t. But its not like we'll get to see it any time soon :sarcasm:. Besides they are all overscored its a Russian competition!

Oh no my dear some are more equal than others :)

Senior Ladies SP:
1. Agafonova 61.45 CaroLiza_fan should be happy!!!
2. Pogorilaya 61.31
3. Kayumova 60.18

Of course I'm happy that Polina Agafanova did well in the SP, taking the overnight lead. But, it's Polina Korobeynikova that I keep harping on about!!! And she came last after the SP, so perhaps I should shut up now...!:

(Hey, there's too many Polina's about! How's about trying to persuade some of them to change their name...?! ;) )

I was a bit disappointed that Sofia Biryukova wasn't a bit closer to the top. But she's only 5 points behind Polina A, and anything can happen in the FS!

No way, I like that name because its similar to mines. There's a junior skater with a longer version called Appolinaria (loves it!). Korobeinikova is probably thankful she has a guarantee spot at nationals. There was a private rental with her b/f the TBA spots were announce for Cup of Russia that said she landed no triples so I'm not surprised with her result.

Oops! I just realised what you were on about with that reference to me being happy with Polina Agafanova's result. It was because I had said in the "Russian Skaters" thread I was worried about her chances of getting through after she had a disappointing result at the last qualifier!

I feel so stupid now!:

Well, at least Polina A is back in with a chance of qualifying now. Let's hope she does another good skate in the FS...

Oh. I didn't realise Polina K was guaranteed a spot. Phew! Let's hope she gets everything sorted out quickly so that she can be competitive in Nationals.

And, I do actually like the name "Polina". It's just that there are so many of them that it is very easy to get mixed up. Like I did there now...!

as long as they are 14 years and above
qualifiers in JGPF can also get a bye

that includes Medvedeva who will turn 14 years old
Pitkeev is 15 and Petrov is 14
Dance is more restrictive

Thank you so much for the link! As you said, it's about time your Federation got a YouTube channel, given how much interest there is in your skaters. ;)

BUT:

Korobeynikova , career over and heading for retirement perhaps ? she is too tall now, No future here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3Ylcra_xM

AND, from the Finlandia thread:

another boring Malanguena, this is one should be locked up on any music choices
a bigger problem for Tuk looking on that video as she still has some weight issues ?

Suzuki needs a 3-3 if she want to beat Ando and Miyahar for the Olympics spot

Do you have to be so critical in your comments?

It is getting so predictable that you are going to be critical about Polina K and Liza Tuk.

OK, so it is also predictable that I am going to defend Liza and Polina K. And yes, part of the reason I argue with you is because I like them. BUT, I do actually agree with some of the things you say. It is just the harsh way you say them that really annoys me.

I do agree that Polina K has lost all the form she had a couple of years ago. And, I agree that it is getting to the stage that it will be very hard to retrieve that form. But, it is the way you worded it so so harshly, just saying bluntly "her career is over".

If you were a 17 year old girl, it must be soul destroying to hear somebody say that about you.

As for Liza, I totally disagree that she is having weight issues. Yes, Liza is not as skinny as other skaters, but these other skaters are mostly taller than Liza (the extreme example being Polina K). To me anyway, Liza is a healthy weight for her height.

We all know how sensitive teenage girls can be about their weight. It is not right to be saying things like this about a 16 year old girl who is healthily proportioned.

To most people reading this, it just sounds like you are being so harsh because you are bitter, and maybe even jealous of the girls in question.

But teenage girls can take these things to heart.

Now, I realise most skaters have the sense to avoid forums like this. But, I know that at least one teenage Russian Ladies skater that DOES actually visit Golden Skate. Because I have seen her posting links for things on Golden Skate to her Facebook profile.

So, is there any chance you could tone it down a bit? Then maybe your criticism would seem more constructive. ;)

S/B have alot of room for improvement, he was recently ill. a bit wild program but I like it and their twizzles is still very fast
S/Z well Ruslan needs Muscles and more build to lift Victoria. he looks too fragile
I/K have good programs this season. a good mileage can land them an OBM

overall, it will be a travesty if Monko/Khaliavin or Riazanova/Tkachenko get the 3rd spot
The Russian Fed should dump these two and give one of the Olympic spot hopefully to either S/B or S/Z

I/K's FD is much cooler this year, and I LOVE the lifts. I hope they can finally break-through in the marks

No tutu for Elena? Those lifts would look so much cooler if she would actually wear a ballet outfit, just IMO

That's the best FD choreographically that I&K have had as seniors! I'm so glad to see that!
