   I would like to ask Michelle if she or her husband have any plans to run for public office.

I would like to ask Alex Shibutani if he will be making a move into big-time movie producing and video photography. I would also like to ask him if he can shed any light on the Zoueva-Shpilband break-up, but I guess I won't.

MM, you forgot to say what you want to ask Maia Shibutani. ;) Other than than grilling her as well about the Team Canton split, LOL.

A query about long-term plans for public office also would be a good question for both Shibutanis, don't you think?
After they win their Oscars, of course.

As for Kwan, check out her photo with another lovely icon of American skating.

Smart moves by Google. Given WHO they are as a platform, they went with the person one would come up with if they google searched "figure skating" i.e., the Kween (long live the Kween!) and the Shibs, the Charming Prince & Princess of Social Media Savvy-dom

Wonderful pictures of Michelle and Kristi! I've noticed in the last few years that Kristi is one of those rare people who is more beautiful at forty than she was at 20. She's become positively radiant.

One more photo of Kwan and Yamaguchi at the media summit (Instagram from teamusa):
(Not their fault, but the USA has decided to rip off Canada's mittens concept. #TooLittleTooLateIMHO)

BTW, some of the skaters had the thrill of being interviewed by Kwan, e.g.:

Watched them both. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Maia and Alex were really impressive. Remarkably poised and articulate. An astute pairing by Google with David Boudia who seems very much cut from that same "ambassador ideal" cloth. The Shibs seem to be able to mingle comfortably with pretty much everybody they engage with. Would love to see the two of them do a series of interview shows in discussion with others. THEY would pull it off with dignity, humor and class.

Michelle, much improved from her earliest efforts commentating at Worlds. Thought her body language when asked about Ashley vs. when asked about Gracie was somewhat telling. Obvious points were made about Ashley's "fighter" spirit and Gracie's "confidence" Character traits which will obviously be key in the months ahead. Can't wait for the interview Michelle did with Max. Will be interesting to see if he shows signs of being in awe of her.

Who is Josh Ellis? He was very solid as a moderator. He was not in awe but gracious and appealingly low key. Very smart to call out the names of those who posted questions for them. Inspire others to try to throw questions in for the next time. "Wheee, Michelle answered by question!!" sort of thing.

I watched Michelle. I think she's still not a natural in front of a camera (except when skating to music, I mean!), but she's becoming more assured. I'm just so glad we'll be seeing so much of her in the upcoming season! One question: what exactly is Fox Sports? How do I locate that channel? Or is it on the regular network Fox channel?

True. She was not at ease. She has gotten a lot more comfortable in giving prepared speeches, but this interviewing gig will be a different sort of challenge.

I believe this media day is mainly to give the athletes who will be in the public eye in the next few months some practice in being interviewed, isn't that right? Maybe they also want to give the rookie interviewers a chance to practice, too. Like Michelle and Kristi interviewing each other. :)

Here are Michelle and Yuna Kim -- two tough cookies, :)

To be a good interviewer you need to have good research so that you can ask pertinent questions. Even though she is a famous skater, she was never on the other side of an interview. Assume Kwan has received good research from Fox Sports to make her more comfortable in the interviewing process. She will get better at it.

I fully believe she will. I remember when Peggy Fleming first started as a commentator. You could barely hear her voice. As with skating, interviewing is a skill in which practice makes perfect.

For those who can't get enough of Yamaguchi and Kwan together, this short video has two such snippets (interwoven with stuff incl. other winter athletes from the USOC media summit, all narrated by Yamaguchi). The little bit at the end with Yamaguchi/Kwan with the mittens is esp. cute.
The vid also includes a nice soundbite from Zawadzki. The entire vid is 1:28 in length.

Maia and Alex were so wonderful! They have really set themselves up for doing the best program they can (working with MJ's own choreographers!). Very exciting...this seems like it could be their best FD since 2011 Worlds. They also have such incredible drive to make it to the Olympics, which is evident in their faces when Boudia talked about Beijing, they can make a comeback as the US's 2nd team of choice.
Talking about their ShibSibs channel and hanging out with other skaters really brings a smile to my face. Especially when Alex talked about meeting the London gymnasts--very-down-to-earth, haha.
I'm extremely excited!!!:agree:
