Is it true that Tanith Belbin is dating Charlie? TSL's tweet makes it seem so!

They need to stop putting their all into these early performances because if they make a mistake at a major competition later on, it will be a huge let-down. Expectations are going to be way too high now. I would not want that kind of pressure.

And that (the technical content) is what helped them edge H/D this time around. I find it amusing at some of the comments that they were held up, when their PCS is actually lower.

I guess you could argue the technical controller heavily penalized H/D and looked at the other way at the Shibs. But that doesn't even make any sense.

That said, I agree with H/D having higher PCS. I agree with you the Shibs were not as crisp and sharp as I've seen them in the past.

She really does! She is an EXCELLENT commentator overall, I think. Very mellifluous voice, pleasant to listen to, and smart. Honest without being cruel.

and that's adorable and lovely that they are dating. What gorgeous children the two of them would have!

Yeah, I'm definitely not gonna complain about them skating so well so early. I also think there are still things that can get better, like the entries/exits at certain parts -- the kind of stuff that comes with repetition, repetition, and more repetition. And maybe it will be good for their confidence to be performing so well so early. D/W haven't really been chokers in the past.

Love merlie's FD more than their short. Just needs to get more comfortable in increasing their speed.

The most visible or hesitant moment came at the spin...nice entrance with the split leg but it was as if Charlie didn't pull in for the rotation right away.

According to tanith, they worked on the entrance for the first lift for two years!

The Shibs actually had the highest BV of the competition (free dance portion), which is what helped them win over H/D.

Marlie can work on getting some of their level 3 elements to level 4, but other than that, it will be hard for them to improve that score. So many +3 GOEs and 10.0 PCS. The ceiling for PCS is 60 and they got 58.61.

There are also 3 L3's on their protocol sheet... which means this program has room to grow...

Phenomenal.

I personally don't think there's a BAD time to have a World Record skate...

This was one of the best Ice Dance GPs I have seen. It was very enjoyable.

D/W, this is the type of performance that brings awareness to the sport. Epic, unforgettable, eye catching, legendary..etc...etc. I hope NBC shows Ice Dance in their coverage!!!!

Wow, that is a pleasant surprise, given their FD level struggles in the past. Perhaps the caution we saw was about getting levels then? I know they were very meticulous especially in that middle section.

D/W have really honed their choreography for that FD even more since SLC. That was pretty incredible! And it was so fun to see Charlie and Meryl break character a bit after the twizzles and smile at each other as they were in face to face hold for a moment. It was like they took a little sigh together! Those costumes are gorgeous- I think they've found their Olympic FD costumes- the peacock blue is amazing on Meryl and brings out the ivory quality of her skin! Just great.

A few wobbles and a slow skate still means perfect 10 for D/W these days. Do they even try to interpret the music any more? Moves after moves is not a program. Looks like the dance now become the new pair skating.
