    2013-2014 South Korean competitions

The upcoming competition(which would be translated into "South Korean Ranking Competition") will be a qualifying event for Olympics(ladies).

Translation of the official announcement from KSU:

    South Korean ranking competition

To be held from November 22nd to November 24th, at Mokdong Ice Rink.

    Events:

    1.Ladies/men group 1
-Skaters will skate to their senior programs.
-Skaters who turned 13 by July 1st, 2013, or skaters who are older than 13 may compete.

    2.Ladies/men group 2
-Skaters will skate to their junior programs.
-Skaters who were younger than 13 by July 1st, 2013 may compete(in other words, not age eligible for junior or senior competitions this season).

    3.Ice dance
-Teams will skate to their junior programs.

Min/Koleto would be competing here-though I don't know if they would be competing here as a senior.

Min/Koleto look fantastic for a new team! Really elegant, decent basics and chemistry. I am very excited for them.

Please tell me they are going to be sent to 4CC and Worlds.

(It's so cute and fitting that he's a Korean culture fan )

Is everybody who placed about Kim Tae-Kyung too young for seniors still?

I thought they were quite a new team, and have been training together less than a year...., maybe 7, 8 months...?? Wouldn't it be too early to go to the major events like the 4CC?? I don't know... I guess they know better themselves... so I should not assume anything just yet.

I believe other competitors who were placed ahead of Tae-Kyung are probably too young for seniors... Otherwise, they would probably sent the ones who did better than her...

I don't think it's too early. It is obviously work in progress but they are already skating quite well and they need as much international exposure and experience as they can get.

I stumbled upon HD video of So Yeon Park and Hae Jin Kim's FS that was broadcast on Korean television. What a treat! Both girls skated great and I can see improvements in both. So Yeon's jumps look much better and Hae Jin seems to be working on her expression.

Wow! What an incredible performance from Park So-Youn! Good posture and lines, very soft and controlled movements. Jumps were fantastic as well!

Why wasn't she sent to any competitions this season?

She ranked poorly at a summer qualifying comp that kept her from JGP: http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sho...l=1#post754623

I still thought she should have been sent though. I mean she was first after the SP, it was only in the FS where she bombed. (That said, all of those who were sent did manage to get top 10 placements in their events and DaBin Choi and Na Hyun Kim both managed to get in the top 5., so perhaps the experience was valuable. I think that on a good day So Yeon could have medaled).

In any case, she's going to the Olympics, 4cc (and likely) Worlds! So this is nice redemption for her.

Thank you, that makes sense. It's a shame indeed that one bad program kept her off the JGP team but then at least the process was transparent and it's sport, you need to deliver when it matters.

I hope she can keep the momentum from this competition going and skate well at Olympics.

Hi! I am an American skater living in South Korea. I want to attend the 2014 South Korean Figure Skating Nationals in January, but can't find any specific information on the event. Can anyone tell me when and where it is happening? Thanks!!!
