I do watch G&P, but not either of their Olympic programs.

    These are my 2 favorites:

G&P Quickstep 1995 OD Firls, Girls, Girls

I haven't seen any SD this season that I like as well as G&P's take on the same dance.

Hah, the oracle has spoken. I sorely disagree (even though I would love W/P to be credited for actually being a bronze-worthy team.) I just don't think they will be able to get it together, and even if they do, B&S will likely get bronze as long as they can stay on their feet.

Home ice advantage is magnified, especially in ice dance where the judges can dole out GOE/PCS however they like. The only thing that will let W/P beat B/S is if they have higher levels and difficulty, but I can even picture the tech specialist giving B/S favours.

Russia will be putting most of their politiking into ensuring V&T win gold even if they have a surprisingly bad outing, and helping Plushenko if he skates. Depending how the ladies are doing by then maybe helping them too. They dont care much about a mere bronze in ice dancing, an event they used to own, and B&S will be their last priority. They will be more interested in Bukin and partner, if he makes it, having a decent result and setting up for the future.

B&S lucked out last year that several teams, including both Weaver & Poje and Pechalat & Bourzat were both injured and had mediocre programs. I dont think they are unbeatable at all. They might win the bronze in Sochi, but it will only be because they skated really well (better than Worlds last year where they even lost to C&L in the FD) if they do.

Why wouldnt Weaver & Poje "get it together". They looked good their first outing of the season and we will see how they look this week.

I'm shocked v/m got negative goe from judges for the first time in 4 years!!

Its been said about Russia and politics and ice dance! Why bother for bronze? People are so convinced Russia is working so hard so over the top so rabidly to get b/s bronze! Why? Why would they bother?

Exactly. The bronze in ice dance is no huge deal for Russia. They will politik for V&T, Plushenko, and the Team Event. B&S are of only remote interest for them.

Weaver & Poje and Cappellini & Lanotte both have a huge shot at the bronze this year.

Bronze is still better than nothing. I don't think any country would give up any medal easily. B&S' program looked pretty good, reminiscent of their 2011 White Nights. I don't know how the finished product compares to Barber of Seville and W&P's program. W&P lost a lot of momentum last year though.

Of course Russia wont easily give up a dance medal, but they arent going to politik hard for it either when they have much bigger priorities in Sochi than that. W&P lost momentum last year but they did incredibly well at Worlds coming back from a serious injury that should have kept them out of the event. They look like they are back on track this year, and already look very strong to me, and easily capable of taking out anyone outside the unbeatable first 2 if they stay on this course.

Sometimes i wish that someone will go to Tessa and Scott and tell them that everything is okay. They looked absolutely heartbroken in the kiss and cry after the SD. Scott was getting overly emotional in the kiss and cry and Tessa looked bummed!

Maybe if they calm down and as they say 'trust in the process' and maybe chill and get a better perspective on things, the twizzles will work themselves out- they can do it and when they execute it well, they are thrilling but something needs to change for them or else they are going to have a mental implosion!

Game over. D and W really seem to have the momentum. I don't think Tessa is heavy but Scott is not big enough to do some of the tricks. Their twizzles and msising levels isn't helping - spins, lifts and twizzles are the challenge and while I think pc wise they deserve it over D and W that is not what the judges are doing right now and that is what counts. i fear they will become like Brian orser who just got used to losing to Boitano.

Skater Boy: There's an interesting quote from Moir in the ESPN article I will link. I'm not sure what to think of it, other than it has a ring of resignation to it... of course it's disconnected from any context... What are your thoughts?

"It was emotional," Moir said. "We talk about this. It's about enjoying the journey, enjoying the process, and we're at great moments in our careers right now. We're healthy, we're strong, we still think we're young -- maybe the rest of the skating world doesn't -- but it's a beautiful thing and we're really enjoying it."

They have a problems with lifts too. This year they have very easy new lifts or lifts from previous programs. I know judges still giving +3 GOE but to me SD lift looking a little bit slow rotation and change of pose, not much flow out of it and not really fitting the music or program. If any other team did that lift, judges probably only give them +1 or +2.

Huh??? This is a crazy question. It's a long season until the Olympics, anything can happen. Not sure where this is going, but V/M looked good to me at Skate Canada. Need to get the program a little more polished, but they will. Of course the comparisons with D/W are being made, but big deal. As always V/M have the emotion and chemistry nailed already in their program. I had tears in my eyes when they took their final bows. I never get that kind of feeling from watching a D/W program.

Honestly, I do love this team as skaters not necessarily as people. I find Scott too brash for me I find Scott too brash for me. If they skated their best imho they deserve to win. Technically they would tie with D and W but artistically, skating skills or pcs they are better but they don't get the marks - maybe because they aren't always clean. But I do have concerns about the technical elements and the lifts - Scott struggles ab it. muscle can help the woman in lifts but he also has to be strong enough to lift the extra weight and they size differences isn't as much as D and W in V and M. It's probably too late but Scott needs to bulk up a bit - the inverted triangle he is too much of a singles skater build so that might help but 4 mos isn't al ot of time. The compromise is I guess Tessa lose about 8 to 10lbs and scott bulkup 8 to 10 and hope it doens't throw everything off?
