It's time for me to brag again......
The little one just competed in her first competition with her freeskate, and she did very well. She competed in Pre-Preliminary Ladies Elements and FreeSkate and also in Star Skate run offs for pre prelim ladies Free Skate.
I am so darn proud of the little one - she did FANTASTIC.
The elements program was a loop, toe loop-toe loop, forward spiral and back spin. She had a little stumble coming out of her spiral but still managed to garner the bronze!
In her first free skate event, she was AWESOME! She landed her axel but stepped out (and she was one of only 2 to even try it). Everything was incredible....except the fall on a backwards crossover, of all things ! Again, she won the bronze, and was pleased as punch.
Then came the BIG event. This is the one that really mattered to her, as the top 2 skaters advance to the provincial final. Again, she was the ONLY skater to land her axel, and this time did it totally clean. She skated the program the best we have ever seen it, and added a whole lot more character to it. Her spins still need some work, but overall, she was very proud of herself. She was the youngest competitor in a field ranging from 8 years to 13 years, she had the only axel and placed 5th. Not bad for someone who only started working on this event at the beginning of December!
