Exclamation My Least Favourite Things: A Figure Skating Sing Along!

I make a point of not posting all of the articles and interviews I do on my blog here because I don't want to step on any toes or seem like I'm trying to push anything but I thought you all might get a kick out of the parody video I just made. It's called "My Least Favourite Things" and it's a figure skating sing along! My apologies if I've poked fun at any of your favourite skaters/skating folks but it's all in fun. If you can't laugh, you need more wine... that's what I say! PG 13 btw!

The link to the sing along can be found on the blog at http://skateguard1.blogspot.ca and the blog's Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/SkateGuard. Hope you're all having a great Sunday and enjoying all of the Grand Prix events, Battle Of The Blades and all of the fantastic skating that's going on right now. XX

As you are a former skater I have to ask, do skaters appreciate audiences urging them on by clapping to a skater's music? I would find it distracting myself as I wouldn't want anything interfering with the beats of a music piece I was trying to skate to.

Loud clapping might rattle an inexperienced competitor but elite senior competitors should have done their programs so many times that they know the tempo and every note of the music, and know where they should be in their choreography at all times. Some skaters are good enough to skate a program completely without music--if you haven't seen this video of the 1973 World Championships, watch particularly starting with the 055 mark; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7BLMcR2KmU

    Glad you enjoyed, Mathman!! )

RABID and bigsisjiejie, as a former skater I would honestly tend to say that it would probably HELP me. An audience getting "into" a program and responding by clapping would just give the excitement to keep going and push harder to perform well. I do agree that some skaters might be distracted by clapping, but I think more would be thrilled by it. )
