Meh, the ladies are disappointing so far.
Excited for the 2 Japanese and Adelina (Hopefully, she can prove that she deserves to go to the Olympics)
Nikol GOSVIANI (RUS)
Music: Prelude G-moll, op. 23 No. 5 by Sergei Rachmaninov
Black sheer dress with white underlay. Lace straps
3F+3T - hard fall, 3T looked borderline <
2S - tilted
3F - twofooted
Rough start which made her slow throughout, sadly. About 3 clean triples only
Score: 45.80+53.48-1.00 = 98.28, 152.04, in 1st (out of 5)
Having watched nearly every competition this fall thus far, the quality of competition here is looking really low, to be honest. :/ It's much weaker than Skate America / Canada were, in my opinion. Xiaowen did really well in the FS here with everything considered, others have been... terrible overall, to be frank. In fact, I'm not sure why Xiaowen got rated so lowly in her program. It wasn't perfect, but it certainly wasn't only 1-3 points ahead of these past FS programs. She should have scored somewhat higher, in my opinion. Especially in presentation when we compare with Kexin in particular. Then again, I'm no judging expert...
I typed this before this last performance but Nikol really wasn't very good, either.
Hopefully the rest of the competitors will do better and we'll have a high quality podium performances but thus far this is looking to be the weakest GP of the series by far(for Ladies).
is the screen freezing for any of you?
Wow, I do NOT like Carolina Kostners dress. It's not flattering
Red/pinkish longsleeved top with lots of gold lamé details. Blue tulle skirt
Yes! Adelina has changed that terrible costume she had at Japan Open.
Is Carolina's costume intended to be a mashup of every Scheherazade costume ever?
I guess we will see today what we have seen yesterday: Adelina and Caro going in with self-confidence, the rest, not so much. It will be interesting to see how Anna is holding up.
I should have set my clock to go off later.
Let's hope the second groups kicks it up a ton of notches. It's like all those ladies watched Alissa in 2012, Carolina in 2009 and Laetitia Hubert in Albertville to get "inspired" for this free skate.
Haruka IMAI (JPN)
Music: Piano Concerto by Saint-Preux
Blue/aqua ombre asymmetric dress w/ lots of blue and silver flower sparkle. Matching flower in hair
3F - solid
3S - fall
2A - hesitation, did not add 3T
3Lo+2T - wonky, stepout
2A - twofooted, forward
LSp - ended after music
She landed some solid jumps, but there were still many messy landings.
Score: 43.29+54.22-2.00=95.51, 150.30, in 2nd (out of 6)
Must've gotten a music deduction
