Given how low their PCS scores are though, I think given a different Technical Controller/Specialist panel they'll eventually lose out to I/K later on in the season. I/K's PCS scores were incredibly high.

I don't think it's the technical panel's fault that I/K got low levels. It's something they have been struggling with for a while.

The quality of execution of their elements is very good. Their basics are excellent and they present their programs beautifully.

If they managed to hit all the levels, they could probably challenge for bronze at Sochi. But it doesn't seem likely at this point.

Shibutanis were incredible , I would give them the second place, but in the first lift Maia get a very ugly position , like she doesnt have a good extension.

Argh! I got stuck at a dinner party and then the subway was late late late so I missed everything. Mao to the rescue (yet again!). Ziggy, I do hope you post your analysis. I missed them for the rest of the competition, and it's always fun to have a mental debate with your point of view (even if I don't always post what I'm thinking).

Who choreographed the Gilles/Poirier program? I suspect Paul has a big hand in it. Perhaps a future career in the making?

Their Coaches Lane & Razgulajevs choreographed both programs

D/W were great! Though i still prefer V/M, but it looks like they are definitely loosing the battle. Concerning I/K im wondering whether Morozov can really fix levels issue

I'm more convinced D/W will not be beaten. Wasn't it only yesterday the buzz was about how they wouldn't be able to score well without the SA Home Cooking, and how the NHK panel was so tough??? So, let's put that to rest.

This was an important placement for the Shibs. Personally I prefer the program of the Russians, but it's still an important medal.

I liked Anna and Luca's SA performance better than this one.

Apparently Christopher Dean also worked on the choreography with them.

Ah-ha! I thought there were some very original moments in that piece, and Dean having his hand in would help explain that.

Loved Gilles/Poirier's free dance! Very unique program and very well skated.

Delurking just to agree with this. I love D/W to death but this was the program that really grabbed my attention. It gives me hope that there will be innovation in the current system.

Well, I mean Finlandia was V/M's season debut (and they had some visible errors there to boot), so I don't really think that's fair. Their FD is def worth more than 100 on any ice.

TontoK , actually don't quote me on the Dean connection. I read it on FSU but I just tried to confirm it and could only find Dean mentioned in articles about their 2012 FD, hmm.

Elena ILINYKH / Nikita KATSALAPOV, I have to copy and paste to get their names, but oh boy, that was a fantastic FD! They just cast a spell with their skating, so intense and sharp. I can't really tell the levels but what they did were very impressive and was completely drawn to them. Great choreography and execution. I now put them on my favorite list. Nikita is a Diva:) He is very dramatic and his moves are full of passion and tension. Love this program!

D/W is just beyond words. Oh my goodness, what a performance! Meryl is the most convincing Scheherazade on the ice. The excitement just kept going and building. I do see D/W are the King and Queen of ice dance during this Olympic cycle. Such command, such power. I also love their soft, lively and joyful style demonstrated in SD last year and the FD the year before. I preferred V/M last Olympic cycle and I love V/M's programs this year too. It's just so exciting to have such two great teams to compete together. I guess they really push each other to the greatness.
