Rene Lohse injured himself in training on Monday. He fell during a lift (they were wearing their FD costumes for the first time in a while, and the fabric is more slippery than they thought). Kati hit her knee, but Rene tore the inner ligament of his right knee part-way through. If he continues to skate this week, he could tear it all the way through. He will rest a few days before beginning rehab. They hope to be back on the ice in 2-3 weeks and think they will be able to be back in top form for Worlds.

Thanks for the link. I feel so sorry for them, but at least there is still hope for Worlds in Dortmund.
I just wish them a speedy recovery for Rene and a great comback at Worlds in their homecountry.

That team must have the worst luck! I can't recall when they had their last injury-free season...

UNBELIEVABLE!! They must be ready to bang their heads against a wall, only with their luck it would result in major concussion!! I really believe that they'd be contending for the Euro & World titles by now if they hadn't had to miss so many competitions the last few years due to injuries -- unfortunately, in Dance, if you don't show up all the time, you lose ground on your ranking.

that's really a shame. i think they could have been more serious threats in ice dance if they didn't miss so many damn seasons lol! i hope they get better in time for worlds, because this is their last season, right?

I should think it would be; if you've had as many setbacks as they keep having, maybe it would be time for them to sit back and assess what the universe may be trying to tell them!!

I've suspected that they were only hanging around for the opportunity to skate Worlds in their home country, anyway, so hopefully they will at least get a chance to do that.

They have indicated in the past Dortmund would be their swan song. Of course, everyone is entitled to change their minds.

Major disappointment! Kati and Rene are one of my all-time favorite dance teams and I was really hoping that they would finally medal this year. The season is not over, so rest up and get well for Worlds!
