Music that should be skated to

Borrowing from "Skating music you just can't stand" where we discussed music we'd like to see banned.

On the flip side, what are some pieces of music you think skaters should skate to more?

    Some of mine:
    Dance of the Hours
Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto no.1, anything that's not no.2, or the second movement in number 2.
    Symphonic Dances
    Sorcerer's Apprentice
    Wild Dances

    Some more contemporary music, too.

    Just perfection...great Tango-Bolero from 0:53-59

Also like Jean Aubry very much, thanks to Menshov.

The best type of music to skate is the type that builds "spatial experiences", I think, that seems to expand or contract in the mind.

I was just rewatching the 1981 miniseries of Brideshead Revisited. The soundtrack is gorgeously Baroque without being a warhouse. But now I can't remember if anyone has ever skated to it before. Even if so, it would make a lovely change from Vivaldi.

And why doesn't anyone ever look at the work of Corelli--Italian Baroque, gorgeous melodies, certainly not played-to-death.

I'll have to look that up, also how about music by Salieri. It's very powerful and dynamic, a bit like Beethoven (Salieri tutored Beethoven so there's the influence).

I'd like to see more Wagner, Bartok, Prokofiev pieces done. Wagner because there is a "broadness" that can be interpreted by a wide range of skaters. Bartok and Prokofiev because they are interesting 20th century composers whose music has quirks that I think could be interpreted well with bodily movement.

Karen Chen skated to 'House of Flying Daggers' last year (including the Lovers' theme): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwr37fmR-vs

There was also a Japanese skater who skated to it some time ago, can't remember who though.

That was a very nice skate for her age. Looks like she has a bright future in FS.

I could totally see Ashley Wagner skate to The Piano Guy's "Rockelbel's Canon (Pachelbel's Canon in D) - 4 Cellos"... it gives her both that "classic skating song" but the power and fire that is perfect for her... not sure if it'd work for a competitive program so much... but I think it could!

http://youtu.be/LV5_xj_yuhs (ignore the cheesey "music video" the music is awesome)
