The British Championships are being run to a new format this year, so be warned that the timetable will be different to what everybody is used to.

The most notable difference is that, for the first time, the British Championships will hold a Gala Exhibition on the Saturday!

I was just looking through the entry list, and was surprised to spot the name Caitlin Yankowskas! I hadn't heard that she had split with Josh Reagan (best known for partnering Ashley Cain in Pairs). Caitlin is now competing with Hamish Gaman, whom I know absolutely nothing about!

Good luck to everybody competing, but particularly to the competitors that are from Northern Ireland (apologies if I have missed anybody!):

Sam McAllister (Advanced Novice Men)
Jenna McCorkell (Senior Ladies)

if someone can watch it live it is possible to say the detail and results for senior pairs short because on the results page it's not in live

Oops! I probably should have put the following in my original message, but I never thought at the time.

You can watch the British Championships live, but you have to pay for it.

Here is the link with all the details:

http://nisastore.org.uk/nisatv/list/32

I haven't registered with NISA, so I don't know what all they ask you and how much membership costs or anything.

Hope this helps

Mmmm. Surprising, indeed. I was expecting Kemp/King to be top (as I am sure most people were), with Yankowskas/Gaman second (yes, I know they're a new team, but they're both very experienced).

I have never even heard tell of the couple that won the SP!!! It took a bit of hunting, but here is their ISU Biography:

http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00034530.htm

...and, for more detail, here is Christopher's Wikipedia page (Amani doesn't have a Wikipedia page... yet)

Here is an interview with them:

http://www.figureskating-online.com/fancy-boyadji.html

But, the whole field is right and close, so things may change come the FS.

I just strayed into the FS Universe forum, and saw a thread about Caitlin and Hamish which gives a lot of info about them. And, Ziggy linked to one of Hamish's old ISU biographies:

http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00007084.htm

A thing I found funny and ironic is what Hamish says one of his hobbies is:

snooker

See - figure skating and snooker CAN mix! ;)

Amani Fancy competed in Junior worlds and the junior grand prix last season for Britain,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j68X8iZB36M
Her strong singles background gives this pair an advantage over Kemp and King who struggle on the side by side jumps.A very promising team for the future :)

Four 2axels landed in Novice Ladies SP. No triple jumps. Winner Kloe Rozgonyi seemed to have had two good performances.

In Novice Men, Josh Brown was head and shoulders over everybody else with 3toes in both programs.

Quite a lot of clean 2axels in Junior Ladies. No clean triples though but the level seems to have increased overall. I think I remember seeing Emily Hayward when she was still skating in Novice and I liked her expression. With no triples, she's not going to the make the FS at Junior Worlds, though.

Splatfest in Junior Men SP. :/

In Senior Pairs SP, Fancy/Boyadji skated clean whilst Kemp/King made mistakes hence the result. I find the GOEs and PCS for F/B a little eyebrow raising, however. Unless they have improved massively since Warsaw Cup.

I have never even heard tell of the couple that won the SP!!!

They skated decently at Warsaw Cup (for such a new team) and the judges' camera videos of their performances have been uploaded by the organiser.

The pair elements aren't strong and you can see it's early days but there seems to be potential there.

Thanks for finding the interview, it was really sweet. :)

I hope they will be back to Nebelhorn Trophy shape by Euros.

I wonder why Jack Newberry didn't compete here (his brother won Junior Men).

I just had a thought. Isn't Amani too young to qualify for the Olympics? And surely Caitlin wouldn't have British citizenship yet anyway.

Hence, if I read this correctly, that means Stacey and David would have be going to Sochi anyway whether they won the British Championships or not.

By the sounds of things, Kemp/King will need to improve a lot in the next couple of months, then!

YEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WELL DONE JENNA!!!!!!!

ELEVEN British Championships in TWELVE YEARS!!!!!!

You have done all of us in "Our Wee Country" proud yet again.

Well, at least I know that there will be at least one person from Northern Ireland competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The question is, will there be any more travelling to Sochi in the other sports…?

I really hope so! ;)

I just had a thought. Isn't Amani too young to qualify for the Olympics?

in fact it's not the age of Amani the problem : 14.07.1997 (http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00034530.htm)
but it's Christopher !!!! he's french and don't have the British citizenship yet !!!

Neither Boyadji nor Yankowskas are eligible to even start on the lengthy process towards citizenship. They would have to become UK residents to begin with. Fancy/Boyadji live and train in Obertsdorf, Yankowskas/Gaman live and train in the US.

On a totally different note, I see Robertson is still doing 2flip/2toe x 2 in the FS. She could repeat the 2axel at least.

I guess this is going to be McCorkell's last season?

I wonder what happened to Phillip Harris. He withdrew after the SP. :(

Shame to see Harry Mattick bombing. He was promising as a Junior and I like his skating.

Is GBR still on the run for the team event? This could be great new for Matthew Parr.

As things stand at the moment, Great Britain should effectively be 9th on the list (if you discount countries who qualified in less than 3 disciplines) so yeah it would mean Parr gets to compete at the Olympics as well.
