Isabella Tobias receives the Lithuanian citizenship

A surprising move by the Lithuanian President:

“The president also took into her consideration the fact that Tobias has been practicing with Stagniunas, a Lithuanian citizen, for three-and-a-half years, also learning the Lithuanian language, having passed an examination of the Lithuanian language and involved in the Lithuanian community in the US.” said the President’s Office.

Well Done Isabella. She definitely had to work for this citizenship. Keeping up with the skating as well as having to immerse herself into Lithuanian Culture and the language.

Don't let her looks or her family wealth fool you. This young woman displays intelligence, perseverance and determination.

A very well deserved reward for her hard work- and even better for Deividas!

I'm so happy for her. She's such a joy to watch on the ice, with personality galore.

ITA. Had a chance to speak with her and Deividas at last year's Skate America. Happy for them both. She has certainly worked hard to meet all Lithuania's requirements for citizenship.

    Very good to hear!

It's especially satisfying because Tobias seems to have worked at not just skating but the language and cultural aspects of suitability for Lithuanian citizenship. This not only gives her a chance to compete internationally but gives Lithuania an extra chance to shine on the world stage, so everyone benefits.

I'm really surprised! They rebuffed her before so I thought it was over for them. Nice news for both of them
