Just curious...isn't room service expensive?

It's not the cheapest way to eat (nor the most expensive, I'd say it's a better value than anything obtainable in the arena), but when you get back to the room at 11:00 after the last competition and a full day of eating arena or arena-area crap food and everything is closed, money is often not the deciding factor. I try to save money in other ways when I go to skating competitions, but I have to have a certain amount of food that is recognizable as such. Hence, room service.

I'm asking my Boston friends who are TAs who/what the recommend just to see as I'm curious now

ETA - Peapod is the only one they're recommending and they love them. sounds like what I'd go with if one wanted to go that route!

A warning: Peapod is okay for what it is but if I'm not mistaken there is a $75 minimum for delivery, and if you don't meet it there is a massive service charge.

Does anyone know if there are any slightly more upscale restaurants near the Garden? I am on a budget but would like to have a nice meal or two between events. Thx for any ideas!

There's a bunch of Italian restaurants I'd like to try in the North End, which isn't far from the TD Garden.

Here's a bunch of highly rated North End restaurants on Urbanspoon: http://www.urbanspoon.com/n/4/329/Boston/North-End-restaurants

Ernesto Pizza looks really good. Got a 97 percent rating on Urbanspoon. Not upscale per se, but sounds delicious! http://www.ernestosnorthend.com/about_us.html

I also really want to try this place....sounds like a good post-competition nightcap place: Saus: http://www.eatfrites.com/

And this place, looks good for weekend brunch. (I <3 brunch!) And they give a free drink (bloody mary, draft beer or mimosa) with your meal. SWEEET!

If you want company, pm me...I am all about eating. :)

chances are if your inbox does not look full it's your sent messages that have filled your PMbox. so be sure to delete sent messages from time to time. :)

Haha. McDonald's is not that bad. You can find some healthy items....and believe it or not, a quarter pounder (no cheese) and apples are under 500 calories.

Tulosai, the weather looks decent, so perhaps we (and Mr. P hehe) can have a Pret outing while we're in Boston!

Deal  :yay:

Just found the perfect nightcap place:

http://drinkfortpoint.com/

It's located in the Seaport District!

I love the description: "We are a bar that throws a cocktail party every night."

It's owned by a well-known restauranteur named Barbara Lynch. She apparently mentored the winner of this season's Top Chef.

Anyway... I might have to check that place out...

Every place I have eaten, including Seaport, has a nice bar! And they are all very close to Seaport/ Ren. Regrettably, I am a tired old man that needs sleep and downtime from 12 hours of socialization a day for 3 days! LOL. So many friends, so little time.
