Thank you so much for posting the scores! I assume then it will be Rigini for the team event SP, given that acing the SP to qualify for the second round is going to be key.

Oh boys but Valentina looked angry just after the man started talking over the tannoy to announce her scores!

Was it something he said, or was she angry with herself for the fall?

Personally, I do think it was something the announcer said, because she didn't seem angry beforehand. A bit upset, perhaps; but not angry.

Are there any Italian speakers out there that can re-wind the video and see what he said that might have set her off?

Well, despite being angry when her result was being read out, Valentina still managed to win both the SP and FS. So there's nothing for her to worry about in terms of the results.

I predicted Micol Cristini to finish 2nd overall. So, I was very disappointed when, after finishing 3rd in the SP, she could only manage 7th in the FS, which dropped her to 6th overall.

No repeat of the perfect score I got in the men's competition, then. :disapp: :laugh:

But, Carol Bressanutti climbing up from 6th in the SP to 4th overall helped!

Parkinson is usually very inconsistent. This FS is the best he has skated in a very long time. Righini is much safer bet for major events.

Marchei might have been upset at her scores. She had only the third highest TES. She does have a lot to worry regarding those results because she had some underrotations again and if she skated like that at a major event, she wouldn't place well. Fantastic FS from Rodeghiero with 5 clean triples! Why does Rio have 2lutz/2toe/2toe planned at the end of her FS when she can still do another 2axel?

Boys, but they kept the last Junior Pairs couple waiting a long time before they got their score.

Which was really cruel given that it was obvious that they were going to drop from 1st after the SP down to 2nd (and last)

Unfortunately, what you say is so true. I have always preferred Pairs to Dance, but for some reason Pairs is not popular amongst the youngsters coming through the skating ranks.

You know, in situations like these where there are only 2 Junior entries and 3 Senior entries, it would have been a nice gesture to have them all go out in 1 group. Yes, there would still be separate results and trophies and all. But it would give the Juniors a chance to "compete against" the more experienced couples, and to learn from them from close distance.

Just a thought.

Anyway, there were no changes to the overall order from the SP. Too many mistakes in both programmes from della Monica and Guarise to put them in contention for the win.

Mmmm. It's just as well the Pairs weren't included in the Predictions Game, as I got the top 2 the wrong way around! Oops!

That came around quicker than I expected.

Junior Dance is on NOW!!!

According to the listings on the livestream page, it isn't supposed to be on until half-past. So, I was expecting a re-surfacing.

But, it's even better for me that it's on now! If they close everything up, I mightn't have to miss the Senior Dance for tea-time after all!

EDIT: Oh, hang on. There's a big entry for the Junior Dance, so I will still miss the Senior Dance.

I know della Monica/Guarise didn't have a good skate by their standards in either Short or Free, But for a new pairing to be so close to them in all columns does look very promising.

And, let's face it, Italy needs a promising Pairs team. The top 2 aren't going to be around forever, and if this year's Nationals are anything to go by, there aren't many other Pairs teams coming through the ranks.

Anyway, although the FD results page hasn't been updated yet to include Valentina GABUSI/Nik MIRZAKHANI, the Junior Dance has finished. And it was great seeing the delight of Valentina and Nik when they realised they had won!

There's nothing more miserable than somebody winning a competition and not looking happy. But this couple certainly were absolutely delighted! :biggrin:

And you can't blame them!

There IS a qualification system. Rodegheiro will go to Euros with Marchei and Costner due to her being ranked 3rd in the national qualification ranking system according to this article http://www.neveitalia.it/sport/figu...quinto-titolo-nazionale-per-valentina-marchei

You're talking about the qualification system Italy has to determine their team for the ISU Championships. Alex asked about the qualification system for Italian Nationals.

Anybody knows how the national ranking is determined exactly? Parkinson is so inconsistent, I can't believe this one strong FS pulled him high enough in order to grab the Euros and Olympic spots. I mean judging on his past results, he might not make the FS at Euros, let alone at OWG. :/

If you make a number of big mistakes in the SP, which is something Parkinson has been prone to in the past and which is what happened here as well, at major events that can mean not proceeding to the FS.

Ivan isn't proneless to making mistakes in the SP as well. Italy could still send Ivan to Euro and the Olympics I guess, but Parkinson is leading the race. Everybody is still awaiting the final decision.............
