i really enjoyed the show tonight. i typically watch QE anytime i am home and watching tv on a tuesday night, which isn't often. i think the guys definetly had a lot of fun with john. he is such a romantic and modest person and i don't think i ever realized what a sweetie silvia is. i was never a fan of hers until tonight, but wow she is sweet!! i am glad they took on john and worked on him a bit, not that he really needed it.

i could just watch the shots of him in his underwear for the rest of my life

Peach, you're such a cradle-robber. ;)

Lord, lord, lord, what a fine, sweet man Johnny Z. is - and he and Silvia are so lucky to have each other.

Cat Fight!

Oh, boy! Cat fight between Peach and Rgirl over John Z and Jordan!

Well, Peach, I must say you got me beat for Jordan with your limberness and your hot tub. I've never had a hot tub, and though I was quite a bendy girl back in the day, no more. But I was always amazed at how few guys knew how to make the best use of bendiness. I've even been with bendy boys and it was never as much fun as guys who knew how to use their...well, I better stop there, except to say "Richard Francis Burton." (And no, I'm not 140 years old, lol.) Go get him, Peach--in a year, natch.

As for John Z., if that's his porn collection, well, obviously gorgeous, but either not my type or needs a whole lotta teaching. Besides, he and Sylvia are armore molto bella! Peach, sounds like you already know him, so sorry guys, cat fight over before it began.

Here's what I thought of the QE JZ episode:
First of all, to have the money for that apartment and not at least get some advice from a decorator? Don't tell me that place didn't need serious help. It wasn't a garbage dump, but the times QE has had a married guy on, the apartment or house has always been clean or at worst cluttered. How about those white chairs with the lime green seats and fringe that John said he and Sylvia made? I haven't seen crap like that since my mother went crazy antiquing things in the '60s. It was sweet that they tried to make things for the apartment themselves, but...

As others have mentioned, John is not known as a snappy or even decent dresser. Not that he or anybody has to be a fashion plate all the time, but wearing a track suit to take Sylvia out to dinner? Yeesh, not good, especially when you're that good-looking, and even more especially because they're such a gorgeous couple.

Favorite line: "Sweet home Alabama! You're a hottie!"
Favorite queen moments: Carson trying to squeeze into Sylvia's sequiney pink bikini top costume. Jai and Carson putting on Sylvia's make-up.
Favorite gay humor observation: Thom holding up the pink plug-in air fresheners and saying, "They're like very gay guns."
Favorite figure skating reference: Obviously, Carson as Tonya and Jai as Nancy doing Nancy getting her knee whacked.
Favorite newlywed moment: Finding the boring porn tape.
Favorite newlywed touring skaters moment: All the unopened wedding gifts.
Favorite double entendre: Carson about to put some of the ointment they found on John's arm, it suddenly squirting halfway across the room onto Ted, and Carson responding, "Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea I was that close." ROFLMAOAPMP.
Favorite "awww" moment: The whole show from the time Sylvia came back home. Everything they said, everything they did, it was just one "aww" after another.
Best Big Finish Ever to a QE Show: John and Syliva having Wollman Rink all to themselves on that gorgeous night. It's like when Bambi falls in love and he starts scampering around. Those guys always get at least a little teary-eyed at the end of the show, but never this much.

Obviously I'm biased toward these skaters, but even factoring that out, I thought this was the funniest show they've ever done, the show with the most gorgeous people, and the show with the most genuinely sweet and tender moments. No wonder Sylvia felt like a princess! Plus it's not like either was doing anything wrong, there were just some things they tried and didn't get right (the apartment) and things they wanted to be better at (John wanting to express his love for Sylvia in all ways and fix those feet). BTW, if he keeps up those foot/leg massages and pedicures, not only better for Sylvia, but his feet will feel better and I think will reduce the risk of foot problems that could affect his skating. Number one in my ratings.

Living in NYC and quite familiar with the Gay scene, I do not believer that John needs any help from the Fab Five. I'm sure they would bow to those good looks and take advice from him:laugh:

So Joe and others who agreed with the above quote, after seeing the show, what's your assessment? Do you think the Fab Five helped John better himself in terms of his stated goals? Do you think John will stick to the majority of the changes/resolutions? If so, which ones?

rgirl and others - I did enjoy the show and your "best" list was right on and

I never imagined that John is really a southern gentleman, and Sylvia is a demure "Pia Angeli", if anyone remembers her. The couple are perfect, and Wolman Rink looked so pretty in the Park.

The boys, however, although fun, are not the best at what they do, imo. John's clothes looked the same as in the beginning - nothing special happened except the 'tryin on'; that hideous painting which was symbolic of their relatiionship - two 1934 planes!; that sauce that even Sylvia wasn't raving about - she tasted and politely moved on; the furniture (sorry Hockeyfan) right out of IKEA but a big improvement over the 'before'; and the words of wisdom were not necessary for John.

I did like the cameo appearances of best friend, agent and especially Kyoko who looked Mahvalus!!!

John and I have one thing in common, we drink while cooking.

A toast to Sylvia and John and to the future stunning looking 2020 Olympic Champ.

First of all, to have the money for that apartment and not at least get some advice from a decorator?

I know! This happens all the time. I once went to a party in an apt that was so fabulous,I couldn't even afford to buy a door knob. The party was catered with the most delicous hooty-tooty food, but the guy (wall street investor) had spent about an hour buying all of the decore from one crummy store. This was before Ikea saved the clueless and cheap. This crap was like straight off the set of "Rosanne". He even had a framed picture of kittens in a basket on the wall! And not in a kitch, tongue-in-cheek way either. I wanted to slap him.

As for the fab 5...we all know it's a gimic. They are experts and know their job, which will never stop the general public who go on this show because they are clueless, from finding fault. (One wife actually spit out the gourmet hor-d-orvers) Anyone who's seen a Liberace or Elton John concert, or seen how Ellen D dresses, knows that gay people are not born with some inherent taste gene.

As for John, and how a Barneys model can show up to a posh rest. in a track suit.....perhaps he is to fashion as Surya and Tonya were to ballet. Just because it's all around you and everyone keeps telling you you need to spiff up, doesn't mean that you aren't going to dig your heels in and stubornly insist on "doing it my way".

So glad a friend called and reminded me about John Z. on QE--I thoroughly enjoyed the show! Damn that's a fine man! I can't count how many times I used the Tivo controls (reverse, pause, slo-mo!). Is it getting warm in here?

PS. Rgirl, don't you hate it when you think of things after the fact?? Giving your friend a $20 would've been the way to go IMO!

re: Zimmerman on Queer Eye

Queer Eye is my favorite show, and I think John was terrific! He was such a good sport about the makeover, and he was so friendly and charming--I think the Fabs realized he didn't need as much help as their other "victims" do.

Still, it was really nice to see him in those Armani clothes, and the apartment did need a decorator! It's interesting that they didn't harm a hair on John's head--finally they had a subject whose hair they liked!

I'm disappointed that they didn't cut Zimmerman's hair, but relieved that only the picture above the couch came from IKEA. The furniture came from "Maurice [something or other]" -- I couldn't catch the last name. Whew. I thought they were losing it.
