Not a QE fan? Gee, Joe, we'd never know As for everything between the first and last five minutes being silly, it's supposed to be. People are supposed to laugh at how ridiculous doing all this stuff is, but getting most guys to redo things most people consider feminine--clothes, cooking, personal grooming--is ridiculous. I just like the guys doing it, the Fab Five. I find them funny and their personalities compliment each other. Besides, to have a hit show starring five very out gay men, in primetime, this is major cultural forward motion, something I thought I'd never see in my lifetime. I just wish they wouldn't limit the people they help to staight men. The Fab Five's sensibility appeal to me a helluva lot more than that guy on the Discovery channel and I was NEVER a Martha Stewart kind of gal.

As for the modeling, like I said, most of the time somebody else dresses this guy--usually Jef Billings. Besides it's not like Abercombie and Fitch or any company John models for is going to give their models the clothes to take home. Are you sure you live in NY?:P Anyway, exposure to fashion doesn't mean you know what to do with it.

I hear we get to see John's gross feet. Cool.

As for Peachsk8er, Jordan, and me, I'm sure we can work out a mutually agreeable arrangement. Jordan may be young, buy he may appreciate the benefits of sharing

rgirl - It's one of those tv shows I can miss easily. Of course, with John as the subject I'll sit through the whole thing. Got to see those worn out toes. And ITA, it is a cultural forward step.

Thanks for the link Hockeyfan. It did get me interested in watching the show.

    TUESDAY IS 'Z' DAY'!!

What will Sylvia say when she arrives at the home?

My guess: John, you took a hair cut.

I'm hoping he gets in the kitchen, makes a great dinner, sets the dining room table, lights the candles, and waits for Sylvia to arrive. What will she say?

Joe, I don't remember John modeling for A&F, just Barney's. I'll ask him the next time we talk.

Having the means and the money to be fashionable and actually *being* fashionable are very different. John has the means, but not the know-how. He's a great guy, but no fashion icon.

Rgirl, no thanks, I failed sharing in kindergarten. I think Jordan will prefer my limberness and hot tub, so bring it on!!

Peach - Check on A&F v. Barneys. Maybe both. As to John's fashion sense, I will concede he is not trendy if that's what you and rgirl mean. I'm sure he'll wear a black tie suit to the right function and feel quite comfortable with the rest of the men at that function in the same type of suit. Men, as know, when they arrive at a social function, check out other men to be sure all of them are wearing similar outfits. Women, of course, want to be the only one with the only dress at the function. C'est la difference!

When one describes Audrey Hepburn and fashion one can understand why so many have agreed that the designer could just as well drape a bolt of material over her and that would be enough to make her beautifully dressed. She was special.

In John's case, imo, he'll look good in old worn out pair of jeans and ripped t-shirt a la Marlon Brando as well as a plaid riding jacket , crop and boler.

But what is Sylvia going to say after the Fab 5 check out their refurbished (IKEA) home, and John's gourment feast for her?

My guess: OH, John, you fussed over the grits.

My take on Queer Eye. Fellas, there are some things that straight guys just won't do. They might want to dress better, get a better haircut and learn to cook. But you will never, never get them to use any of those skin care products. Or clean the bathroom.

I hope they show the Jr Worlds. Got to see this guy. I've already paired him up with Sasha Cohen. What a team they would make.

Is the date on the ISU site wrong? It lists Jordan's birthday as 1/19/87. I know math is not my strong suit, but doesn't that make him just 17?

Nan, I think you're right, it seems he was 16 during Nats (I'll have to dig up my program) which would make him 17 now. Oh well, so I'll wait a year.

Oh, no, I hope not IKEA. I've never seen them go to the same furniture store twice, and they did IKEA with the musical comedy writer. I hope they bring him to a "klessy" furniture store, so that I can shop vicariously through them.

Just saw the episode. It was quite funny. Carson could not keep his hands off of John. I think the Fab Five were very pleasantly surprised at the raw material they had to work with (no pun intenteded at any level! 0

i really enjoyed the show tonight. i typically watch QE anytime i am home and watching tv on a tuesday night, which isn't often. i think the guys definetly had a lot of fun with john. he is such a romantic and modest person and i don't think i ever realized what a sweetie silvia is. i was never a fan of hers until tonight, but wow she is sweet!! i am glad they took on john and worked on him a bit, not that he really needed it.

i could just watch the shots of him in his underwear for the rest of my life

    Peach, you're such a cradle-robber.

Lord, lord, lord, what a fine, sweet man Johnny Z. is - and he and Silvia are so lucky to have each other.

    Cat Fight!

Oh, boy! Cat fight between Peach and Rgirl over John Z and Jordan!

Well, Peach, I must say you got me beat for Jordan with your limberness and your hot tub. I've never had a hot tub, and though I was quite a bendy girl back in the day, no more. But I was always amazed at how few guys knew how to make the best use of bendiness. I've even been with bendy boys and it was never as much fun as guys who knew how to use their...well, I better stop there, except to say "Richard Francis Burton." (And no, I'm not 140 years old, lol.) Go get him, Peach--in a year, natch.

As for John Z., if that's his porn collection, well, obviously gorgeous, but either not my type or needs a whole lotta teaching. Besides, he and Sylvia are armore molto bella! Peach, sounds like you already know him, so sorry guys, cat fight over before it began.

Here's what I thought of the QE JZ episode:
First of all, to have the money for that apartment and not at least get some advice from a decorator? Don't tell me that place didn't need serious help. It wasn't a garbage dump, but the times QE has had a married guy on, the apartment or house has always been clean or at worst cluttered. How about those white chairs with the lime green seats and fringe that John said he and Sylvia made? I haven't seen crap like that since my mother went crazy antiquing things in the '60s. It was sweet that they tried to make things for the apartment themselves, but...

As others have mentioned, John is not known as a snappy or even decent dresser. Not that he or anybody has to be a fashion plate all the time, but wearing a track suit to take Sylvia out to dinner? Yeesh, not good, especially when you're that good-looking, and even more especially because they're such a gorgeous couple.

Favorite line: "Sweet home Alabama! You're a hottie!"
Favorite queen moments: Carson trying to squeeze into Sylvia's sequiney pink bikini top costume. Jai and Carson putting on Sylvia's make-up.
Favorite gay humor observation: Thom holding up the pink plug-in air fresheners and saying, "They're like very gay guns."
Favorite figure skating reference: Obviously, Carson as Tonya and Jai as Nancy doing Nancy getting her knee whacked.
Favorite newlywed moment: Finding the boring porn tape.
Favorite newlywed touring skaters moment: All the unopened wedding gifts.
Favorite double entendre: Carson about to put some of the ointment they found on John's arm, it suddenly squirting halfway across the room onto Ted, and Carson responding, "Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea I was that close." ROFLMAOAPMP.
Favorite "awww" moment: The whole show from the time Sylvia came back home. Everything they said, everything they did, it was just one "aww" after another.
Best Big Finish Ever to a QE Show: John and Syliva having Wollman Rink all to themselves on that gorgeous night. It's like when Bambi falls in love and he starts scampering around. Those guys always get at least a little teary-eyed at the end of the show, but never this much.

Obviously I'm biased toward these skaters, but even factoring that out, I thought this was the funniest show they've ever done, the show with the most gorgeous people, and the show with the most genuinely sweet and tender moments. No wonder Sylvia felt like a princess! Plus it's not like either was doing anything wrong, there were just some things they tried and didn't get right (the apartment) and things they wanted to be better at (John wanting to express his love for Sylvia in all ways and fix those feet). BTW, if he keeps up those foot/leg massages and pedicures, not only better for Sylvia, but his feet will feel better and I think will reduce the risk of foot problems that could affect his skating. Number one in my ratings.

So Joe and others who agreed with the above quote, after seeing the show, what's your assessment? Do you think the Fab Five helped John better himself in terms of his stated goals? Do you think John will stick to the majority of the changes/resolutions? If so, which ones?

rgirl and others - I did enjoy the show and your "best" list was right on and

I never imagined that John is really a southern gentleman, and Sylvia is a demure "Pia Angeli", if anyone remembers her. The couple are perfect, and Wolman Rink looked so pretty in the Park.

The boys, however, although fun, are not the best at what they do, imo. John's clothes looked the same as in the beginning - nothing special happened except the 'tryin on'; that hideous painting which was symbolic of their relatiionship - two 1934 planes!; that sauce that even Sylvia wasn't raving about - she tasted and politely moved on; the furniture (sorry Hockeyfan) right out of IKEA but a big improvement over the 'before'; and the words of wisdom were not necessary for John.

I did like the cameo appearances of best friend, agent and especially Kyoko who looked Mahvalus!!!

John and I have one thing in common, we drink while cooking.

A toast to Sylvia and John and to the future stunning looking 2020 Olympic Champ.
