Bye bye Jeremy. I think this might be sadly the last we will see of him. I don't think he will even make the Canadian team. So much hope but he needs to lan all his jumps if he doesn't have a quad. Very generous scores but maybe the judges heard what is going on in the US. Tried a 3A bonus marks. Smiled at a judge more pcs. Wore a pretty outfit ten points added to your score lol.

Well another one bites the dust. Actually he may have saved Jeremy Ten a spot on the national team for Canada as he just lost to him. He couldn't think on the fly but he could have done a 3lutz doube toe or loop at the end instead of the axels.

Patrick Chan (7th Canadian title)

His balance was off tonight, and he doubled the second quad. He also had a hands-down on one of his triple jumps.

Now the question is who will get the third spot. Nice work by Liam but I am not sure his skating skills will be recognized internationally. He didn't have one big trick triple axel or quad done. And he didn't maximize his jumps easily could tack on another 2 toe or 2 loop at the end - mind you he had to think because he had another combo open after his triple a became a double. Hmm could chan do it??? :) Boy these scores are generous surely the Americans could inflate like this????? :)

Has Patrick given up on the 3 lutz???? That is worth a lot more than the flip now a days I hope someone points that out to him. I guess he earned his spot to sochi. He really needs someone to go over maximizing points unless the 3 lutz is that bad - which I doubt it is because tacking on a 1/2 loop 3 sal isn't easy.

As far as I can tell, his skating skills not his jumps (which were gorgeous aside from the ONE fall) got him this far, 85 in the second mark :)

Chan, well no comment on his performance
If he performs like that in Sochi, he won't be on the podium

I don't think so. It hasn't gone as well of late, but since when does that mean that he's "given up" on it?

Yes, and Patrick knows that very well. It wasn't his best, but this is NATIONALS - no need to be perfect now. It's not like the U.S. men where there are several contenders and mistakes can take you completely out of the running. We knew Chan would win nationals; it was just a question of how well he would skate. The Olympics are always a whole new ball game anyway. Can't wait to see what happens!

What a fallacy. The idea that Chan is going to have to be perfect to podium at the Olympics is likely nonsense. If you look back at Olympics past you'll find that plenty of not-perfect programs have podiumed and even won — because the Olympics is such a pressure cooker and weird things happen all over the place. I'm not saying that Chan would automatically win with his Nationals performance, or that it's the best performance he's ever done, but the implication that it was a disaster is hogwash. It had plenty of technical content and could stand up pretty well. Of course, I'm hoping for a lights-out fantastic performance at the Olympics, but only in Chan-haters' minds (and I'm not including you in that group skatingfan) does what he put out at Nationals equate with horrible.

Chan's FS was not horrible by any means. He doubled a quad and put a hand down on his 3L. Still landed his axel and his quad. His SP was a mess but I'm certain he'll bounce back.

Mao wouldn't medal with her Nationals skates but she gets cut slack for a bad competion and she is still a favourite.
