EDIT: Surprised that the judges put that as high as they did! The love from the crowd must have influenced them!

The judges seem to have trouble integrating negative and positive aspects of skating together when deciding on their marks. Or they only notice one and not the other.

Actually I do like his creative and original approach. I've never ever seen such a program and it at least makes me remember it. Most of the programs from early-group skaters are boring and utterly forgetable, this one stands out. Also, the choreography capitalises on Mario really well. When he started the program I was sceptical and curious at the same time and he proved thet you can come up with a lot of different moves that reflect Mario and are suitable to be put into a figure skating program. I would give him at least 8 points for Interpretation as he interpreted the music he picked adequatly. It was different than interpreting a classical piece but a skater is supposed to interpret the music he chooses. He did the job in that respect

I agree with you. That is why i liked this program in spite of its obvious deficiencies. :)

5th Group

Brian Joubert FRA: Last skate at Euros for this 3-time champion. Medalled in all his 10 first showings.
Florent Amodio FRA: Made a big splash winning the title in his first try. Unfortunately thins have gond down hill for him from then.
Michal Brezina CZE: Looked very promising when he entered the elite scene. Has stagnated but still has the potential to medal if clean.
Jorik Hendrickx BEL: Needs a good showing here for his Oly comitte to send him to Sochi.
Konstantin Menshov RUS: The grandpa in this field and only his second euros. A real underdog.
Alexander Majorov SWE: Most remembered for his "**** my fed" rant on facebook. Made top 10 last year.

The whole point is that it's neither all good or all bad and everything should get reflected in the marks. By all means, reward certain aspects of his IN, CH and PE but then he should get heavily deducted on PE for poor carriage, poor lines and the worst posture ever seen in figure skating. His edges were very shallow and he didn't have a lot of speed. And transitions were neither plentiful nor particularly difficult or executed to a high standard. Great example of a skater where you can easily see PCS being very varied.

What?! When?! Why?!

Because he didn't get selected for Worlds. Which made Swedish Federation 'f***ing Niggers and f***ing faggots.' (His words posted on Facebook and not mine)

It was a couple of years ago so I guess he can get away with 'young and stupid' excuse and he surely posted it in a fit of rage, not thinking clearly. I would like to believe he knows better now.

JOUBERT, Brian FRA

That costume doesn't make him look as porny as usual :(
4T - fall :(
3A- goes down again :( :(
Flying sit
3Lz-3T huuge
Combo Spin, still weak
Audience behind him as always
Energetic charismatic classic Brian steps
Received a phone call and missed the end :(

Oh well, disastrous for his standards but the TES box show he's on par with the current leader.

An absolute disaster for Joubert. Empty program, rushed, unfinished movements, tense throughout, weak on most elements.
